Forest Cottage AFH

Welcome to our little Forest Cottage! My name is Silvana Mot, and I am the owner and manager of this Adult Family Home. As an Adult Family Home, we specialize in Dementia and Mental Health care. I am proficiently equipped with years of experience in different fields in healthcare and management, including occupational therapy. I have managed Adult Family Homes in the past. I have been working as a caregiver since 2009 and I have been an Occupational Therapy assistant since 2014. Our home truly is a little cottage in the forest. The property is tucked away in a very peaceful and quaint neighborhood. The home is surrounded on two sides by a greenbelt. The dense and lush vegetation of the greenbelt provides a beautiful backdrop throughout the seasons. The sights and sounds of dozens upon dozens of bird species visiting the home are a year-round treat. We also have a variety of fruit trees in the backyard. We have a covered deck and a backyard cobblestone walkway that surrounds the entire perimeter of the house. The backyard is not just for viewing, it is also for exploring! This is a great way for residents to enjoy the outdoors and get some exercise in the privacy and safety of their own backyard. We also have a beautiful vegetable garden where we grow our own vegetables such as, tomatoes, cucumber, string beans, chives, and different herbs and spices. Our AFH has central A/C. This is important because the summers in Seattle are getting hotter and hotter. Heat strokes and dehydration are a reality, especially in the elderly population. The home is also backed up by a generator in case of a power outage. This is especially important to have during the fall and winter months when temperatures start to dip. The AFH has Security Cameras around the entire perimeter of the home on the exterior. A close eye is always being kept on the home, even remotely. Our purpose and goals are to make our residents feel at home and be healthy. We truly put the “Family” in Adult Family Home, and we do this by providing a cozy, beautiful, and familiar environment. We are friendly, kind, and understanding to the needs of our residents. We provide fresh home cooked meals and snacks, and we encourage (not prescribe) activities, games, and socialization.
