I have been incredibly impressed with the staff at HomePlace. The Community Relations Director, Leslie Lawson immediately and expertly facilitated a move for my mom into HomePlace when she was in "crisis" and being some distance away, I was not able to get there as soon as the situation warranted. After my mom's move-in, the staff went to great lengths to build trusted relationships with her and attend to her needs. They adjusted pricing to reflect her actual needs (reducing the cost after the initial move-in, when we thought my mom's needs may be higher) and ultimately supported a transition to another option within the Cogir brand, which at this current time, is the level of support appropriate for her Alzheimer's. My mom regularly reports the care and attention to detail the staff exhibit and this has been my experience as well, when I call to ask questions or am relaying information my mom is sharing with me. I am frequently traveling for work, which means I am not always immediately available, but the Cogir Team puts my mind at ease by providing family like support, when my mom needs it most and I am not available.

My mom lived at HomePlace Burlington and I can say that there are a wonderful bunch of people that work here but I would not recommend them if your loved one needs a lot of care. If your loved one is fairly self sufficient, they should be okay. If they are incontinent, have trouble feeding themselves, can not transfer themselves or are wheelchair or bed bound I would absolutely NOT recommend them. Our experience was awful due to lack of staffing. The staff is so overworked that residents are left in dirty briefs for hours, the food was awful and my mom was left in conditions that were often deplorable. I was told that the facility was within legal guidelines but my mom’s pod had 20 heavy transfers with two care givers and 1 med tech that was roving between all the pods. There is absolutely no way that number of caregivers can care for that number of residents. Many of the positive reviews on this site were left by employees not family members or residents. Please please check on your loved one regularly. I really liked the staff but the lack of staff left my mom with horrible skin conditions, huge weight loss and set her back drastically. The CNA’s were all so amazing and loving but could absolutely NOT fulfill the tasks they were assigned just because of lack of time. I was told over and over again that my mom would always receive better care at home and I just expected too much. I was paying 13,400 a month so I did expect more than bloody diaper rash and showers that were given less than once a week.(I often would go in and give my mother a shower because she smelled like a homeless person). All of the residents in my mom’s pod were filthy with dirty hair and it smelled awful much of the time due to feces and urine. I recommend showing up at around 6:30 at night to see the chaos of two staff members trying to feed, clean, ready for bed 18-20 residents (usually melting down due to sundowning). Lots of times it would be down to one staff member because the other would take their dinner break at about 7-7:30. It was an absolute nightmare. When I reached out to the head nurse, Shannon, for help it was useless. She just complained about how overworked she was and how her home life was so hard. She even went into depth (in front of my mom that has dementia) about her son trying to shoot himself in the head but not even being able to do that right. It was horrific. The staff, as wonderful as they are, cannot make up for the lack of coverage that the Frontier Group allows. The facility is a huge money grab and I would STRONGLY recommend you find a better place with more staffing. I met with management several times and realized that the money making formula that the corporation has made it so my mother would continue to be neglected because it was not possible with the staffing allowances. My mom is back at home and doing much better. It took almost a month and a half to cure the skin conditions caused by HomePlace. It bears repeating….please, please check on your loved ones and advocate for them. I want to post pictures but for my mother’s dignity I decided against it.

I am not a casual observer of Home place Burlington, My son Mike has been a resident for more than 20 years and now my wife ( of 72 years) lives there as well. I am more than satisfied with the care both receive and the manner in which it is given. If the time comes that I require such care I have instructed my family to allow me to be a resident of Home place Burlington. Gary Jones.

This building is truly amazing and the staff are so kind and welcoming. When we called the building we got help almost instantly, they were so kind and were able to schedule my family and I a tour for 2 days out (everybody else we contacted was 2-4 weeks out). When first walking in the building, it was very clean and comfortable followed by welcoming staff who were so kind and friendly. I cannot begin to recommend this place enough, they’re thorough with their care and very communicative with each other as a team making sure nobody is left out of the loop including family members. If you’re looking for good, friendly, and fun care for your loved one look no further because this is the place that you are going to receive amazing communication from as well as amazing one of a kind care for your loved one.

HomePlace Burlington offers exceptional care in a warm and welcoming environment that truly feels like home. Beyond its beautiful setting, it’s the compassionate and dedicated professionals who make all the difference. One standout is Leslie Lawson, the Marketing Director, whose kindness, sincerity, and approachable nature set the tone for the entire community. I highly recommend HomePlace!
