Lovely retirement home, always spotless, people here are so friendly, beautiful library with a fireplace. The staff is quite amazing in the handling of the residents there.

Dec. 2024 follow up: Almost 2 years after KB would only put mom in memory care, she is still thriving in assisted living in California. Still doesn't need help with ADLs, living in her own studio apartment, It would have been a shame to take that away from her too soon. Memory care may be in the future, but not any time soon. You know your loved one better than anyone.
A year ago, this place would only put my mom in memory care though she was mostly independent, just forgetful (diagnosed with dementia) and stressed because her husband just died. I think they didn't have enough room and pulled a bait and switch on us--told us that mom would soon need it and they didn't want to move her twice. How insensitive and what a stupid reason to put someone in memory care who isn't that far along. Mom had visited the assisted apartment several times, decorated it in her mind and was ready to move in. They waited for us to pay the $1000 application fee to tell us that she couldn't be in assisted living. They don't understand dementia at all and it was a blessing in disguise. Mom would have been so depressed and certainly would have declined. She is living near me in Beverly Hills now in assisted living where they believe in dignity and agency for people with dementia. She has the freedom to come and go as pleases. Walks the town and neighborhoods 50 minutes every day with women she organized to accompany her, shops, paints, and is thriving, may I say even improving. Don't let anyone tell you dementia/AD is the end of the world. Find a place who cares with services that understand socialization, learning, exercise, and allowing our elders do what they can with dignity. It'll change their and your life. A whole year later and mom is no where near needing being locked up in memory care and she is genuinely happy.
I had an appointment with my client to check out this Senior Living Center. The most gracious client advocate Joan, took us around and I was impressed with the apartments, dining room and services offered. All I can say is it's beautiful and I'd move in myself. It's like a resort. So many activities, great menus in the dining room and even exercise classes if you so choose. Thank you Joan for your time and attention and answering all of our questions.
Have had a few loved ones in the care of KB, friends and family alike. Great institution, good staff, and an expanding campus with state of the art (and BRAND NEW) residences. The care and compassion they showed my grandmother will always be remembered. Thank you to all the staff of KB for loving our family as much as your own .
