IRIS HOUSE

"My mentally ill daughter was a patient of the Iris House. She was on conservatorship at the time. She was bipolar diagnosed and was having a problem. However, I was called by the Sheriff's Dept. on New Year’s Eve that the Irish House had her arrested, and to come pick her up at the jail in Oroville. What? I live in Chico, CA and it was around 10 p.m. etc. and I am 82 yrs. old. I informed to Police that she was on Conservatorship and was their responsibility. I called the Crisis Line to report what had happened, and they told me she should have immediately been transferred to the Hospital Emergency Room for re-evaluation which is the proper procedure. The Chico police department should have done the same. When I called the Irish house for some explanation as to what had occurred, the person I talked to, Adveana (not sure of spelling) was very rude and refused to give me further information. I asked to speak to her supervisor, and she stated that "she was fully in charge, and would NOT give me any help". This is my daughter I was asking about who was turned loose with no warm clothing and no means to identify herself or funds, or identification, and no phone or means to communicate with anyone. Her sister too tried to seek their assistance and got similar treatment only worse. She had to file a missing person report, as she was turned loose from the jail, and later got arrested as a result of Irish House noncompliance with the law and the fact that she was on conservatorship. Adult Services were also contacted and they too called the Iris House and were hung up on"
