The Ackerly at Reed's Crossing

As a resident for more than a year, I've appreciated knowing I have services and support in the building where I live: exceptional meals, weekly housekeeping, security, an abundance of physical, mental, creative, and social opportunities. Connection with the broader Portland community is fostered with volunteer opportunities, outings, entertainment both outside and inside the Ackerly community. The staff are attentive. Although I haven't had personal experience with the health care staff, whenever I see them, they are friendly and gracious. There is a lot to be said for feeling secure in a community like The Ackerly as one ages, and I know my family appreciates it as well. The month-to-month rental offers flexibility if needs change. The Ackerly is an integral part of the new Reed's Crossing development in South Hillsboro and I am grateful to be part of it.

I was given a tour of The Ackerly recently by a lovely young woman. She was engaging and extremely knowledgeable about not only the wonderful amenities they have, but could answer all my questions about making the transition from my home of 35 years. I was also quite impressed with the dining room and the delicious lunch I was served. I have looked at two other facilities, but I have to say The Ackerly is my choice.

As a service specialist in the greater Portland Metropolitan area, I recently had the opportunity to escort the Vice President of my company on a tour of my top five most well-maintained accounts. Among all the locations we visited, The Ackerly at Reed’s Crossing stood out as my top choice. I want to recognize The Ackerly for their exceptional cleanliness, organization, and the overall ease of service they provide. Their kitchen and facility are consistently spotless, which speaks volumes about the high standards maintained by the staff. It’s always a pleasure to work alongside such a professional and welcoming team. Thank you to everyone at The Ackerly for making this location one of the most enjoyable and efficient accounts to service.

Beautiful campus but the poor follow through and lack of care was very concerning. Hired outside care and eventually moved loved ones to a safer facility. Maybe this is a better fit if your loved one only needs community and meals provided. More complex medical needs are better met elsewhere and for cheaper.

I tried to report this about 3wks ago but nobody care's, which is absolutely frustrating. Reported to Manager Kim no call back, went to front office area and they said “ I need to talk to Nurse manager”. Tried multiple times to see Nurse, she is never available. About 3wks ago, a Med Tech in Assisted Living gave me such attitude and even rolled her eyes (coming from a older lady I was in shock) when I ask about my family members morning meds they were late and we needed to get going for Dr.Appointment. She went to med rm to look for meds, that wasn’t in the apt. She was taking too long so I went to look for her she was in med rm on her personal phone talking to someone . As I waited 5 mins she got off the phone and she ignored me. I ask again about the meds again she said “ they ran out of the med and pharmacy has not delivered the med yet” again said rudely and loud. The next day as I came to visit, she came in to give meds another employee was with her. Walking into my family members home, she did not acknowledge me or my family member. Came in starting getting meds together as she was talking in Spanish and laughing with other employee. Also found out from eve shift Med Tech that the meds she couldn’t find was there the entire time. I talk with a private sitter that works with a family there . She said” that a lot of people have problems with this employee and Nurse manager seems to avoid confrontational situations with her.
