I moved my mother into TCII a little over a year ago. She received good care. The staff was good and the food was good,. Then activities started happening and the residents that wanted to participate had a great time. Staff and residents seemed happy and active. There was a change in the administration, now I go into the community and the staff seem tired and overworked. They smile at me when they see me with my Mom, but otherwise no smiles no good atmospheric vibe. Now when I walk in the first impression is have I walked into the house of the living dead. Residents either look like zombies watching TV or they are sound asleep with crinked necks. It is a completely different vibe. And honestly I have left early from my visit with my mom due to a broken heart from what the environment was before to what it is now.

I don't have a loved one who resides at Tabor Crest, so I can't speak for the care that the individuals there receive. My complaint is that I called today to ask if I could volunteer (actually, to bring in my sweet, friendly, 8-week-old baby for the seniors to play with) and the woman who answered the phone curtly told me, "We do not accept volunteers in our community." If I were choosing a home for an elderly loved-one, I would want them to be in an environment where volunteers are allowed to come and show love to them. I don't think it's right for seniors to be cut off from society and isolated in this way. Also, if no volunteers are allowed, then it means the staff doesn't necessarily have to be on their best behavior, because there aren't any objective outsiders to hold them accountable. I think this company could do a much better service to their clients by allowing volunteers to brighten up the days of their residents.

The level of care my father in law received here was excellent. The staff is wonderful and very caring and the owner is so patient and kind. My father in law was always clean and well seen too and they made him very comfortable during the end of his life. They take the care of the residents very seriously.

We just took my mother-in-law to this facility today. When I visited on tour, and today while we moved her in, all of the staff were very kind and helpful, especially Lacra, the manager of the facility. Once my MIL has been there a while, I will revisit this review and update it, thus right now I've only given 4 stars. I hope to raise that to 5 stars!

Signing in to say, this previous reviewer has a lack of understanding about this senior community and how it works to support its residents and families. There are solid reasons they would not want random "volunteers" and it is based on protecting their residents (what vaccines have they had?? What experience do they have with memory care behaviors? etc.). Please do not base your opinions off this misguided review.
