MISSION VILLA

Welcome to Mission Villa! We are a 14-bed assisted living senior care home that specializes in Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive diagnoses. Our care is innovative, simple and remarkably effective. In 1996, Mission Villa was conceived, developed and constructed by Dana Newquist. Inspired by his friend, Ronald Reagan, and guided by Harvard experts in architectural design and cognitive disorders, Dana built the Mission Villa as a 'home away from home' for seniors, with specialized support for seniors with dementia and other cognitive diagnoses. Mission Villa’s motto is 'more hugs than drugs'. We prefer to nurture with fundamental aspects of care such as healing touch, positive language, joyful music and fresh chocolate chip cookies! Each day at Mission Villa starts with a hug, a kiss on the forehead and a positive word. We celebrate our residents lives; accomplishments, careers, family and are honored to be a vital part of their continuing story. Mission Villa is our residents' 'home away from home'. We are all one big, happy family. We encourage and enjoy the daily visits from family and friends and while away the morning chatting about the weather, grand kids and thumbing through photo albums. Just like any family, we have a schedule to guide our day but we are fluid. We provide Associative Activities. That is to say we allow the mood and interests of our residents to guide our choices for activities. A simple remark, Hey! Remember Sing Along With Mitch? Oh yeah! prompts us to pull up a Sing Along With Mitch playlist on YouTube and we all spend the next hour (you guessed it) singing along with Mitch! Mission Villa's proprietary Associative Activity Planning results in cognitive engagement and quantifiable joie de vie!
