The caregivers that I have worked with are wonderful, but the communication with the central office is a frustrating disappointment. My most recent of several examples: The office reached out to me about a cancellation and asked if I would like to re-schedule. I gave a date and was told that they would reach out to the caregiver. Over two weeks later, the caregiver still had not been made aware of this request. Then, the day before my requested time and 20 days after the original conversation, I ask if the caregiver is coming, get told to await a response, and then am told, "I'm sorry, but I can't process your request without at keast 72 hours notice." Whyyyyyyy!?!?! Their clients are people who need more dependability, not less.
Do not use this company!!! The coordinators do not take their job nor the client serious The company failed to provide the clients with stable nurses caregivers time after time that are consistent the staff never return the messages for the clients they do even return messages there is no supervisor to speak to and when you ask to speak with the supervisor you get the run around. The owner needs to fire his staff and get new ones !! They send out lazy nurses that are out of shape and can’t handle there job! I would never recommend this company ever!
Apparently their office isn't very good with communication. We have a voucher for 24hrs of respite care. It was sent to them in July I called last week to inquire what's going on this was after my contact at ICRC had spoken with them twice about said voucher. They couldn't find it and I was given an excuse about how many couches they receive etc. They apparently found it and called me on Friday to tell me their scheduling person would call me to schedule and ask me what day I wanted it to start I told them Wednesday No one called me on Friday I called them on Monday after leaving them a message the scheduling person called. Basically they don't have anyone for our area and the only one they have isn't accepting new clients. You would think they could have told us that in the beginning instead of wasting three or four weeks of our time. I contacted ICRC and told them, they were not happy and are now pulling the voucher from here and putting it somewhere else. This place was great in June with the last voucher we had, this time though. I would not recommend this place they don't seem to be very organised.
We've had several care providers from Desire and have absolutely loved everyone they've sent. There were a couple that weren't a right match for my son, and they replaced them immediately with no trouble. Customer service is great!
Unfortunately, I found desire home care to lack communication, not listen to what you want, has a hard time providing care givers for respite care etc. What I find extremely disturbing is they do not train their employees at all to deal with kids with autism etc. they send them out for a shift and “hope it works”. As a former Nurse it’s disappointing to know they don’t get any training and pretty much are just hiring anyone who has CPR and first aid and can pass a background check. I had a caregiver who I liked but, apparently my son was too much for her. He was too active and liked to go outside etc. she also didn’t seem to understand some of things autistic kids do because she thought my son was acting maybe entitled or wanting to do what he wants. Clearly if she had the proper training she would understand their minds don’t operate like ours. Maybe you all should not hire people if they can’t handle very simple situations. Anyhow I hope you start training employees before you throw them to the wolves or make sure they enjoy being active and don’t tire easy. This type of job is not for the weak.
