If I could give less than one star, I would. My father entered Pruitt Health Hospice care in April and passed away on May 1. We were promised compassionate, reliable care throughout his transition. What we received was abandonment in our most critical moments. On his first night home, he experienced a medical emergency. We called the support line and were told the on-call nurse lived over an hour away. In his final days, it was clear he was nearing death. We were instructed to call Pruitt when he passed and that they would handle everything. He passed away at 3:33 a.m. We began calling and texting immediately. We left voicemails and waited. For THREE HOURS, no one responded. No one answered the phone. No one came. We were left to sit with our deceased father in our home, alone, devastated, and unsupported. Eventually, we were told “the phones were down.” That is unacceptable. What happened to being a compassionate, responsive hospice team? I would never recommend Pruitt Health Hospice. The lack of care, support, and professionalism during the most vulnerable time of our lives was appalling. No family should go through what we did.

My husband passed away in May, but this is the first time I really have able to sit and collect my thoughts to express how wonderful we were both taken care of by the staff of Pruitt Health. The admission process was easy and the nurse was very caring. At first, he was able to continue spending all day and night in his recliner. Then one night he had a real bad fall and I was unable to get him back into the recliner. At that point all agreed that it was time for a hospital bed. His nurse took care of all of it and met the delivery with another nurse to get him settled in and set up with oxygen, making sure I knew what to do. Over the course of his last years we had visits from all of the nurses and aids, the social worker and the chaplain. In such a difficult time, the Pruitt staff made it as comfortable as it could be.

Our son was being handled by them and one of their nurses made us leave our sons room, she prayed for him and played Christian music (no problem with that) but then the nurse came out the room, accused us of over medicating and she called to suspend his medication. Which that caused a bad night with our son, with him in so much pain. She than advised us that he has a demon in him and we need to pray for him. The other nurses involved disagreed with the other nurse and helped us so much until our son died. It was a difficult time for us and the one nurse made it worse.

This Hospice provides above and beyond excellent care. The entire staff puts patients and families first and strives for individualized care to meet their needs. I know many families who have had a good experience and refer additional family members and friends.

This Hospice company has such amazing people who will go above and beyond making sure the patient and the family is taken care of and the way they love their patients and families is so special. Amazing team! It’s a privilege to know them and I would recommend to anyone’s loved one.
