Ambercare is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Silver City, New Mexico and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.
Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.
Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.

Overall, the staff has been great. The only problem has been staff dropping in unannounced without notification. This is probably due to being a new patient and unexpected closure of former provider thus throwing added patients from former provider into the mix.
Very rude unprofessional staff. They act like they are doing you a favor while getting paid to take care of a disabled veteran. Unacceptable behavior towards his wife and family. Finding another provider out of pocket. Apparently the VA hires the least experienced because they are cheap.
Mark the manager there never does his job. And if you thought the receptionist were bad OH MAN THE MANAGER IS WORSE. He doesn’t DO PAYROLL RIGHT!!! Ridiculous and when you try to confront him about it. He leaves and doesn’t say a word. He is a child in a important place. What a joke of a place. I’m honestly afraid of the people this clinic has hired. Godbless the damage they have done.
Look elsewhere for care for a family member. Addus sent out a totally untrained person who didn't have a clue about what to do. After 1 day, I cancelled the service and requested my deposit be refunded (over $1,000). Nearly 2 months later, I'm still trying to get my refund back - even though I wrote a separate check for the 1 day of service I received. No responses from the home office or the local office - everyone has a different story. I have filed a complaint with the New Mexico Attorney General's office to see if they can resolve this issue.
