About

Physicians Preferred Hospice

Physicians Preferred Hospice is a Medicare-certified hospice provider serving Tarzana, California and surrounding areas. A Medicare-certified hospice provides comfort care and support services to patients with terminal illnesses and their families. Hospice care focuses on quality of life rather than curative treatment.

Hospice care is available to patients whose physician certifies they have a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its normal course. Patients may receive hospice care at home, in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.

Medicare-certified hospices must provide all four levels of hospice care: routine home care, continuous home care for periods of crisis, general inpatient care for symptom management, and inpatient respite care to give caregivers a break. Care is provided by an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and trained volunteers.

Medicare covers hospice services with no cost to patients for most services, including medications for symptom control, medical equipment, and 24-hour access to care. For more information about hospice benefits, visit Medicare.gov. Compare hospice providers at Medicare Care Compare.

Quality data and provider information are updated periodically by CMS. We recommend verifying current information at Medicare Care Compare.

When my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, we were overwhelmed and didn't know where to turn. The Valley View Hospice team became our beacon of hope during the darkest time of our lives. Nurse Marina was absolutely incredible - she treated my dad with such dignity and compassion. She took the time to explain every medication, every procedure, and always made sure he was comfortable. Marina didn't just care for my father; she cared for our entire family. She would sit with us, answer our questions at 2 AM, and never made us feel like we were being a burden. My father passed peacefully at home, surrounded by love, and that's exactly what he wanted. We will forever be grateful to Marina and the entire Valley View team

Our experience with my father at Physician’s Preferred Hospice was unacceptable. This organization should be reported to the California Department of Public Health for its continued operation. While some hospices offer safe and compassionate care, Physician’s Preferred Hospice delivers dangerously subpar service. Their care planning is poor, aide services are mismanaged, and patient assessments are inadequate. If you truly care about your loved ones, steer clear of Physician’s Preferred Hospice. If they could, they would even go so far as to admit a dog to bill Medicare. Opt for reputable companies with genuine reviews instead.

They didn't do anything for me. Left my husband in pain. Nurse told me if I raised my voice (I was emotional) she couldn't talk to me. I did hang up for I wasn't going to be calm after that. I would think that when you work for hospice you would be ready to handle emotional people. Than nurse comes to the house once. Said she would be back on Thursday. Not to give him a bath till she got there. She never called or came. When he passed, noone would come out to pronounce him dead. I am talking hours and hours. We can't call anyone else nor can the mortuary come out until the hospice has pronounced him dead so he was in my livingroom for about 13 hours. I had to ask great grandkids to leave because they were looking at their papa and did not understand why he just laying there. So now I don't get to have e my family around because hospice didn't care. We were just a number that gave them a paycheck. Nothing did they do for us. This was the worst experience of my life. I not only lost my husband, I had to have these people who had only been at my house one time make his death 100 times worst. Save your loved ones and do not use this hospice!

I would give 0 stars if I could. This was an absolutly horrific experience. From the medication to the bed side manner. Almost 14 hours sitting with the deceased loved one. 10 hours just waiting for them to "get ahold" of a nurse just to come and prounounce the time of death. The staff and everyone that we had to talk to completely failed, not compationate, not understanding not even decent customer service. This should have been a time of comfort and support while the family grieves the loss but it was far from it. They reduced several medications causing extreme distress severe uncontrolable pain because of their lack of knowledge. Do your research and I strongly recommend a different company.
