Blue Ridge Hospice

It's never easy when your family needs hospice care, but Blue Ridge Hospice transforms what can often be a horrible experience into one where grief and fear can be expressed without embarrassment or judgment. Tragically, I lost both my father and mother within 18 days of each other, and both were cared for by Blue Ridge Hospice in their home of 50 years. My mother, who suffered from dementia, also received respite care from their staff after my father's passing. The death of a loved one is never easy or without pain, but Blue Ridge Hospice did an excellent job of explaining the process, what to expect, and what we needed to do. The staff I interacted with, from Summer and her father, were always amazing people who showed my family kindness, respect, and, most importantly, empathy. Can I say I am happy with their service? No, their service is not meant for happiness, but it allowed me and my family to say goodbye to both of my parents (and my children's grandparents) without feeling negative or being in a negative space. The only minor criticism I have is that the traveling nurses who visit homes are not always as prompt as one might wish. I understand they are managing many patients, but a simple text message would perhaps be helpful. However, in the grand scheme of things, this is a small quibble. Thank you for the incredibly difficult work you do and the support you provide to families.

All the staff & volunteers are extremely competent & kind. They have the best communication that I have seen in an organization. My family member is comfortable thanks to them.

My father was only in hospice for several days, but my family can't speak highly enough about Blue Ridge Hospice. They provided the needed support to my family - answering any questions we had at any time of the day, facilitating getting equipment (my dad's hospital bed was in my parents' house within 2-3 hours after intake) & needed medications including those on shortage on the weekend, and providing compassionate and respectful care. Everyone was so kind and helpful. It was a blessing to our family and we are thankful!

We had Hospice in for our Mother just a short time, but they come in and sit with you and what ever we needed for our Mother, the got it to us the same day. All of the Ladies that we dealt with were so compassionate and caring. They are all "Angels"! Unfortunately, we lost our Precious Mother on 2/15/2023 and they came right out and handled calling all of the Vendors and People that needed calling to save us from doing that. I just can't believe how hard they all work and get everything done "ASAP".
