Caregiver Job Description
Special Requirement: * Must be comfortable around cats * Must have a car * Prior experience working with adult Autism/ID population is preferred *Core Responsibilities: • Community Involvement: Facilitating participation in community activities, such as recreational events, social outings, and employment opportunities. • Skill Development: Teaching and supporting individuals in developing daily living skills, social skills, and vocational skills. • Health and Safety: Observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in an individual's health or behavior, and taking appropriate action. • Advocacy: Supporting individuals to advocate for their needs and preferences, promoting self-determination. • Relationship Building: Fostering positive relationships and creating a supportive environment. • Personal Care: Assisting with tasks like bathing, dressing, and toileting, as needed. • Household Management: Supporting with tasks such as meal preparation, laundry, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment. Key Aspects of the Role: • Person-Centered Approach: Must focus on the individual's needs, desires, and preferences, tailoring support to promote independence and personal growth. • Building Independence: Encourage individuals to do as much as they can for themselves, rather than doing things for them. • Respect and Dignity: Must treat individuals with respect, and value their choices and contributions.
