Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Current licensure as a Vocational Nurse in the state in which practicing. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Ability to apply basic principles of nursing care. RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs daily resident rounds to ascertain comfort and response to medications. Performs resident assessment and evaluates plan of care. Administers medications using principles of infection control. Follows safety policies when administering medications or performing treatments. Administers medication as prescribed and implements other nursing interventions as indicated by resident plan of care or as ordered by physician. Initiates and updates resident care plan as required. Initiates communication for follow-up regarding negative response to medication administration to physician and other disciplines. Ensures the exchange of information necessary for quality resident care, specific to medication administration. Maintains all documentation as required by Federal and State regulations and facility policy. Assures that documentation is complete in the resident’s health record of resident’s response to medication, summary of needs, and change of condition. Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment, and/or medications to meet resident needs. Participates in all assigned meetings and in-services. Other responsibilities as delegated by Supervisor.
