Caregiver /Personal Care Assistant Job Description

Job Summary: Primary Purpose of Job: To provide care to assigned residents in caring, safe and efficient manner.
Essential Job Functions: Responsible to perform the following according to Dayspring Assisted Living mission, facility standards, procedures and individualized resident care plans.
(A)Resident Care ● Dressing / Undressing: helps residents with dressing and undressing and maintain proper clothing.
● Grooming: assist residents in maintaining proper and clean appearance.
● Bathing: assist residents with bathing and maintaining cleanliness of all body areas.
● Toileting/ Elimination: helps residents with toileting needs.
● Nutrition: helps residents with meals and dietary needs.
● Movement: assist residents with transferring, repositioning and walking.
● Psychosocial Care: accommodates residents’ needs through responding appropriately to residents’ verbal/ nonverbal expression of needs.
● Spiritual Care: assures residents’ spiritual needs are met by willing employees(self or others)
(B)Resident Rights ● Property: safeguards residents’ property
● Living Areas: keeps residents’ living areas pleasant and orderly.
● Dignity/ Privacy/ Confidentiality: maintains residents’ self-esteem, privacy and confidentiality of personal information.
● Independence/ Choice: provides residents with opportunities for independence and choice consistent with their care plans
● Advocacy: assures resident rights are protected and that all residents, families/ significant others are made aware of resident rights
(C)Communication ● Monitor/ Document: monitors residents’ wellbeing and documents care provided to residents
● Residents Status: receives and shares information; observes and reports residents’ conditions to appropriate staff
● Cooperation: works with team members and other staff members in a helpful, respectful and courteous manner
● Socialization: assists residents in meeting their social needs through interaction with staff, family and other residents
● Customer Service: responds appropriately to resident request for help and maintains positive relationships with residents’ friends and family members; responds promptly to residents’ call lights
(D)Safety ● Maintains safe work practices and follows facility safety procedures
(E) Infection Control ● Follows facility infection control procedures
(F)Other Basic Responsibilities ● Attendance: arrives on time for work and is ready to perform assigned tasks
● Personal Hygiene/ Appearance: meets facility hygiene and appearance standards
● Time Management: prioritizes and completes work assignments within reasonable and agreed upon time frames
● Conduct/ Polices/ Procedures: follows facility conduct standards and policies and procedures performing all work alcohol and drug free
● In-Service Training / Meetings: meets requirements for in-service training and meeting attendance per facility policy and state and federal requirements
● Continuous Quality Improvement: actively participates and woks to identify and improve quality and work outcomes individually and as part of a team
● Technology Skills: seeks to learn and utilize appropriate equipment and trends in technology
● Professional Certification/ Licensure/ Standards: maintains required certification/ qualifications and associations standards
(G)Other ● Performs other related duties as assigned
