Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
Home Health Aide staff will assist the person being served by maintaining a safe, clean and healthy environment for patient, companion and emotional support for client and family, bed baths, tub baths or showers, dress clients as needed, transport clients to bathroom, toilet assistance, change linen, change bed pans and urinals, medication administering as directed by physician, catheter care, turn non-ambulatory patients regularly to prevent bed sores, record vital signs, reporting all incidents or changes to physical or mental health, and all service needs documented on client care plan and service authorization. All support procedures will be followed using steps approved in the laws of the State of Florida. REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS Providers of HHA services at Heart of Compassion Home Health Agency of Florida, Inc. (HOCHHAF) independent vendors who are either individuals or employees of agencies must be at least 18 years of age and have at least a high school diploma, GED or equivalent and one year of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or working with persons who have a developmental disability. College, vocational or technical training equal to 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours or 720 classroom hours may substitute for the required experience. Licensure or registration is not required. Staff must be able to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position, must be proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills, must be able to lift at least 50lbs, carry clients without help, stand long hours, work nights, weekends and holidays, have good vision. REQUIRED TRAININGS. Proof of training in the areas of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), HIV/AIDS and infection control is required before providing the service to individual. Proof of annual or required updated training shall be maintained on file for review. Staff is responsible for meeting all training requirements outlined in the Florida HHA Requirements. It is a requirement that working for a Medicare or Medicaid home health agency you will need to have successfully completed the 75 hours of healthcare training in a qualified home health aide program and/or pass a competency evaluation given by the home health agency. Staff must attend all other in-service trainings as mandatory by (HOCHHAF).
