Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Under RN supervision, provides services in the home of clients, performs related work as required. The In-Home Aide reports directly to the Service Supervisor. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructs client on how to prepare a shopping list for food, utilizing principles of basic nutrition, budgeting and buying and considering preferences of the clients; basic shopping for essentials, reports changes or situations observed in family or individual served; provides personal assistance such as bathing, toileting, skin and mouth care, assistance with self-administration of medications; completes required reports and records timely and accurately. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of home management, including housekeeping methods and household budgeting; knowledge of basic elements of nutrition and meal planning, including special diets. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED Current CNA licensure and Home Care experience preferred Must be listed on the NC Nurse Aide Registry if employed as a nurse aide If employed as a personal care aide, evidence of successful completion of an aide competency evaluation program is required Credentials and/or skills Able to lift/transfer/move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. with no assistance Valid NC driver’s license Reliable Transportation NOTE: Must also complete the Criminal Background check and not be listed on the NC Health Care Registry with a substantiated finding.
