Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Description

We are seeking a self-motivated, passionate, and caring Licensed Practical Nurse to join our family. The primary purpose of your job position is to provide direct nursing care to the residents, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our Home, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services or Nurse Supervisor to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Full time position works (3) three 12-hour shifts, including every 3rd weekend with a $3.00/hour weekend shift differential pay. Day shift is from 6:30 am - 7:00 pm. Night shift is from 6:30 pm - 7:00 am, with a $2.00/hour night shift differential pay. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing diverse basic care to those who need it while remaining patient and calm. It is a demanding job but also very rewarding. Responsibilities: Record a patient’s medical history accurately Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc. Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc. Monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output and compose patient charts Assist ailing patients in daily necessary activities such as eating, bathing etc. Administer injections, prescribed medications, enemas etc., clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks Collect samples for lab testing as assigned Requirements: Must maintain current CPR certification Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN in Indiana Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team Familiarity with long term care, safety, and sanitation standards and procedures Compassionate and able to handle stress A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care Must have patience, tactfulness, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents We recognize that our employees are at the heart of achieving our mission.
