Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Job Description
The PCA is responsible for assisting residents with daily activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Assist residents with personal grooming and hygiene habits, including shower, tub or bed baths, oral care, hair, and skin care • Assist residents in the use of toilet facilities, including changing residents at regular intervals • Assist with mobility needs, transferring to bed, to chair, or turning residents • Assist residents with walking, including the use of walkers and wheelchairs, when applicable • Assist residents with self-administration of medications • Meal preparation and feeding, when required • Assist with prescribed exercises when the client and the aide have been instructed by the appropriate health professional • Answer calls and provide them help • Record and report changes in physical condition, behavior, or appearance to supervisor • Professionally interacts with residents, families, medical professionals, and co-workers and directs to appropriate person or department • Maintain CONFIDENTAILITY and HIPPA compliance with all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected • Ensure that all residents are treat with dignity and respect Required Skills/Abilities • Must be able to comprehend oral and written instructions • Must be able to communicate effectively • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English • Must be able to function independently and as a team Education and/or Experience • High School Diploma or GED equivalent • Prior experience helpful Physical Requirements The physical describe here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
