DESCRIPTION: The OASIS coordinator is responsible for reviewing electronic or hard copy, in-coming clinical documentation for quality of care, accuracy, appropriate utilization of services and compliance with reimbursement criteria. This position is responsible for assuring all OASIS are complete and accurate prior to exporting to the State. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 2. Prefer home health, ICD coding and/or OASIS experience/certification. 3. Demonstrates problem solving abilities and positive interpersonal communication skills are essential. 4. Demonstrates exceptional assessment and teaching skills. 5. Ability to learn and apply professional training, follow physician’s orders and produce accurate records of activities and services provided. 6. Ability to organize work procedures, assume responsibility and effectively train others. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Reviews coding for accuracy and coordination with OASIS documents and POC’s providing feedback and education to clinicians. 2. Utilizes reports out of electronic medical records system (WellSky) to ensure accurate coding and OASIS documentation. 3. Proficient in reviewing OASIS documents for completion and accuracy. 4. Participates in in-service programs, trains, and teaches other nursing personnel. 5. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff. 6. Keeps agency management informed of clinical documentation needs and variations. 7. Maintains patient confidentiality and agency matters. 8. Stays up to date with Medicare changes including ICD coding, OASIS and Prospective Payment System regulations. 9. Analyze OASIS documents using various tools to prevent Medicare audits.
