"I was here for 4 months back in 2018. During this time, I had witnessed multiple counts of professional misconduct regarding how the other children and I were being treated. I had tried reporting these issues multiple times in the past, but the situation I was in, being a patient in an inpatient mental hospital, made it difficult for my voice to be heard, and it enabled many of the staff to get away with their wrongdoings. Any concerns the other children and I had were easily disregarded under the pretense of us being mentally ill. I witnessed a situation where the staff had openly assaulted a child with excessive force for verbally provoking him and then documented a false scenario on paper where the child was made out to be the aggressor in an attempt to explain why that child had scratches and bruises on him. Also, the psychiatrist there would force children to take medication for disorders they had no history of having solely for the sedating side effects the medication had. I was in a cottage where 7 out of 7 children, myself included, were all forced to take the same antipsychotic medication, Risperidone. The first time I took this medication, I had an adverse reaction to it where it would make me feel disoriented, confused, and drowsy for the entire day. The next morning, I told my psychiatrist how the medication was making me feel. My clinician, psychiatrist, and the program director all told me that if I wanted to go home, I would have to take it. Otherwise, I would be sent back to juvenile detention for "failing to comply with treatment.""
