Families, Please Read Before You Send Anyone Here I’m speaking as a family member of a patient who stayed at ABQ Heights Healthcare and Rehab, and what I saw was deeply concerning. This place is chronically short-staffed, and it shows in the care. One of the CNAs was seen smoking dope in their car right outside before going back to work. The 300 wing smells heavily of urine, and the level of cleanliness doesn’t match what they present to families. Even worse, I’ve seen non-certified aides operating equipment they aren’t trained for, which puts residents at risk. The food often comes out raw, cold, and barely edible — not something you’d ever want to feed someone recovering or elderly. When the state inspectors show up, everything suddenly looks spotless and organized — but it’s all staged. They clean, smile, and pretend everything runs smoothly, but that’s not the reality day-to-day. Families deserve honesty and safe care. If you love your family member, look elsewhere.

My mother stayed here for two weeks and they treated her very nicely and took good care of her. The staff was amazing and quickly became like family to her and the rest of us. The staff in physical therapy was exceptional!! They did a great job motivating the patients and creating a fun environment to exercise in. She enjoyed the bingo and other activities and enjoyed seeing the little fur mascots that would visit and make everyone smile! We were very apprehensive about choosing a facility for our mother to go to since we are from southern NM, but we are confident we chose the best one!! Thank you for taking such good care of our Lil’ Queen and making her feel important! We appreciate each and every one of you!! 🙏🏼

Our experience with this facility has been truly wonderful. From the moment we arrived, the staff was amazing — they quickly became like family to my loved one and the rest of us. Their kindness, compassion, and dedication made a world of difference during the recovery process. The Director of Nursing (D.O.N.) and the Administrator are exceptional leaders. They’re both approachable, professional, and genuinely care about the well-being of the residents and their families. Their presence sets a positive tone throughout the entire facility. I’ve personally enjoyed every step of this journey while watching my loved one heal and prepare to return home. We’re so grateful for the support, the quality of care, and the welcoming environment. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be treated with dignity, respect, and heartfelt compassion.

My mother had a terrible experience here. This place should be investigated. The food looks like dog food, and I'm told it tastes the same. You would not allow anyone you cared about to eat it. No one answered the phone after an hour of calling. No one responds to the nurse call button. No one shows up when they say they will for meetings and appointments. No one distributes medication on time. They are clearly walking a fine line between substandard and outright patient abuse. I intend to call regulatory boards and responsible agencies about the substandard care. I dare any administrator to try a mouth full of what they tried to feed my mother. We had to take mom out in less than 24 hours. If you have family here, check on them!

Staff was very helpful and very kind. They involved my father in law in there daily activities and at points letting him sit with staff behind the desk talking with him and coloring. Overall, great rehab!
