The people who work there are very friendly and helpful, but the food isn't very healthy. High fructose corn syrup in the soda on the very first day, served with pudding, Jello and some highly sweetened yogurt. The whole meal was very high in carbs, over 80 grams (which is about 20 teaspoons of sugar). Not what you would consider a rehab friendly diet. It was nice to pick out future meals, of course only if you are close to the kitchen, because then you can get the food served hot and are able to get quick changes to your meals if needed. Rooms that are far away get meals that are cold and any changes can be a challenge especially if you are missing something that you had picked. Some meals seem to be lacking any significant protein or description of what is actually being ordered. What you think you are getting and what is being served could be totally different. Noodles with sausage sounds delightful but it could be with an extremely heavy gravy or red sauce that doesn't look good to anyone. You don't have to be a great cook to make simple, healthy meals. There are absolutely no peaceful hallways in the rehab wings, only televisions blasting all day and night and the constant sound of beeping, with little hope of getting proper sleep. If you speak up then you will be moved to even worse conditions as a punishment. Like all nursing homes the help is good and very friendly but there is never enough of it so if you have to go to the bathroom you're better off just going in your pants.

Although I wouldn't choose to need rehab, but if it is needed Concordia Rebecca Residence is the place to do it. Social Services was very prompt and responsive to addressing my concerns — thank you Debbie. The head of nursing and the entire team of doctors and physicians assistants were compassionate and went beyond what was expected. The vast majority of aides truly cared about providing, the necessary care and support to aid in recovery. However, first and foremost, I was here for rehab. Physical therapy and occupational therapists were extremely helpful in guiding my recovery. Their knowledge and skill provided the incremental support I needed to return home, feeling safe and confident. I am incredibly grateful!

We in the Pittsburgh region were hit with a strong storm in May which left our area without electricity for nearly five days, including Rebecca Residence. This meant that a generator needed to be used to keep the essentials running at the facility. During these trying days, I witnessed the staff going out of their way to keep the residents comfortable. The employees performed many tasks that were not their ordinary job duties and did so without complaining and with smiles on their faces. I witnessed great team work. Kudos to Rebecca Residence!

Over the past two years my aunt has been a short term, rehab resident on three different occasions. Each time I have had the pleasure of working with social worker, Debbie Ferguson. She guides her patients and their families with knowledge, kindness and professionalism. She’s thorough and dynamic, and brings some light into difficult situations. We feel fortunate to have her as our advocate

Recently my sister was placed at Rebecca Residence. She had been fighting a long battle with cancer and decided to discontinue treatment. Rebecca welcomed her, helped her with hospice care, were very compassionate and took care of her every need. They also took care of our family by asking if there was anything we needed and kept hot coffee, tea and snacks right outside of my sister’s room. The way they cared for her made this very difficult time a little easier on all of us.
