APOPKA HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTER

My sister was just recently moved there. The entire staff is friendly, positive & welcoming. The facility is new, clean, bright & cheery. I talked to many of the residents & they stated how happy they are there. So far, I highly recommend it. Pictured is a semi-private room! They are designed so that you feel like you're in a private room. The physical therapy room is awesome. I was unable to take a picture of it because people were getting their therapy. My sister has been there 2 weeks now, and she is extremely happy with the facility and the entire staff.

Day two at this facility and this is the second day I arrived at 8am to find my mom sitting I a urine filled bed. She had been calling for someone to help her since 6am. She is here for physical therapy to get better not worse than she arrived.

I was impressed by the cleanliness and atmosphere of this place. The director who guided my visit and tour made me feel welcome and answered all of my questions and concerns regarding my husband being transferred from Orlando Health Lake Mary Emergency Hospital to this skilled nursing program. In fact, I was so pleased with this option that it became our first choice. The only reason that it did not happen was that the insurance letter of acceptance arrived too late. It was actually dated the same day that the hospital called to tell me that their recommendation for being transferred from the hospital to the Apopka Facility had been denied, so I should come get him and bring him home instead.

If I could give a 0star I would. My mom died in the hands of their staff. My mom was non verbal so she couldn’t communicate with me to tell me what was going on. When I first brought her there her nurse was awesome she really cared and looked out for her. A few weeks later that nurse no longer work there. She would tell me to to make C sure I come and see about my mom bc the cna there don’t really check in on her. I was checking in popping up asking to see her feeding charts. Most times when I would come in, no one wants to be found they all were like hiding. so I will feed my mom myself because her food sat there for a while and no one came in to feed her. This happened several times while in their care. My mom developed a big bad sore so big that it spread it and open and got infected several times I went again popped in and she is soaking wet. No one changed her. I end up changing her a few times myself. I made sure I documented and took pictures again. No one to be found. I waited about 45 minutes before anyone actually came in to check on her. Another time I came again popped in and my mom‘s lips were really really really dry with me being in the medical field, I knew it was a form of dehydration so I end up calling EMS to come and get her and take her to the emergency room and that’s exactly what it was dehydration . I have several pictures from that day and of her lips and mouth. I would ask him do they ever get her up to just sit in a chair or push her out there with others because every time I would come she’s in the bed. My mom was a nurse and a vet active person who love people. I’m sure she didn’t want to be sitting in the room in the dark all the time and I explained that to them and they told me that they will start getting her up more. Again when I popped up. Still in the same spot. No one to be found. My mom weight was 45lbs. One CNA actually called me and told me I need to come and see my mom TODAY she said as a matter of fact come NOW! No one called and told me my mom was really sick . I was so angry when I got there the lack of communication is HORRIBLE. My mom passed and on her death certificate her cause of death is MALNUTRITION and DEHYDRATION. After my mom passing they didn’t enter call to offer their sympathy or tell me I need to come get her stuff. And a lot of her belongings were missing all the time especially after her passing. I HATE This nursing home. They took my best friend away from me. It is not for no Verbal residence. If your loved ones can’t feed themselves or talk, please please please put them somewhere else besides this Nursing Home. If I had the money, I would have kept my mom home with me where I know she was getting fed and taken care of properly. It breaks my heart that these nursing homes have people that just go to make a paycheck and not doing it because of love for the people not money. I’m still broken to this day. If I could turn back the time I would do anything to have kept my mom with me and just struggled but at least I know she would be alive and well taken care of 😢😢
