The rooms are always dirty. No one gets bathed. Wet sheets just dry on the bed and more linen is placed on top. Some staff are nice but there are many who are not. There is a huge lack of respect for the patients by a great deal of the techs. Most just don't care. Without care, the patients suffer. The food looks atrocious and my family member won't eat any of it.
Although they seem understaffed because it took over an hour for someone to come to try to get my grandmother comfortable since I couldn't because I'm currently on crutches. However, David came by and fixes everything. He made her comfortable, and then listened to us both. Then he did everything necessary to get her to comfortably stand and then took her to play UNO in a wheelchair, while I trailed behind in my crutches. He did not need any assistance transferring her and she felt safe with him. We're both incredibly grateful. 5 stars foe David, 4 stars because Franklin Woods needs more staff asap, but everyone there seems kind and caring.
On 1/10/2024, I lost my husband due to negligence of the facility, avoid this place and seek justice for your families. I was very unhappy with the cleanliness and negligent staff of this facility. On my first visit I barely had enough room for the chair to fit in the very small space between my husband’s bed and the wall. I noticed while talking with my husband, I noticed urine running his bed. It took 3 attempts before someone finally came in to clean it up. When she finally came in she said”where did this come from.” I was very upset and said “it came from the roommates bed now it needs to be cleaned up. So she took out towels to sop it up and throw them in a garbage can. NO Sanitizer!! Then she found the roommates diaper was leaking. I was so discussed that I told my husband, “I have got to get you out of here.” I made a list of possibilities and tried to discuss it with the Social worker. She said she was busy with a customer and would have to get back with me later. But it was waiting for her to get back but since it was Jan to was getting very dark so I needed to get home but before leaving I asked for the social works phone number. The next morning when I called her she said in a very rude manner “who is this” ? I said this is Mary Beth Cuddy I was asking about moving my husband to another rehab. She said also in a very rude manner, “this is my personal cellphone who gave you this number?” I explained that the front desk gave me this but that is beside the point. Are any of the places that I gave you available”? She said no and then hung up. My husband requested physical therapy therapy so that he would be able to move about the facility, all they have him do was sit up in bed for 2 weeks. 11pm at night on 1/09/24, he was found ON THE FLOOR BRAINDEAD and was sent to Franklin Square Hospital and he was pronounced dead at 4:30pm. He looked bruised as well! I am unsettled and still disgusted, do not send anyone here!
Do not send your loved one to Franklin Woods Center. My mother stayed there for about a week and a half. She was there to get her strength back and help her better with the walker. Most of the time she was using her wheelchair to get around instead of using the walker. If she needed something to be done, like get her water or ask for medicine, she was told they could not help her with that because she was not her patient. There are some good nurses there, But the bad ones outweigh the good ones. Plus, she shared A bathroom with her roommate and the room next-door. Which means anywhere from 2 to 4 people are using one bathroom. On number of occasions, staff Left out dirty laundry in the bathroom instead of putting it in the dirty laundry room. As far as the rehab department, let’s just put it this way she was using a walker before she came in and now all she’s using is a wheelchair to get from A to B in her apartment this stay did not help her at all. It made her problems worse. To add to this, within the first 12 hours after she came home she had fallen twice and is currently in the hospital for what the doctors think has been a heart attack (4 days after leaving this place) it seems like since she left this place she went down hill. Before she came here she was mobile and independent and never missed taking her medication, now since she left this place she constantly needs help 24/7 and she also had forgotten to take her all her medication for 2 days, therefore making her sick and that is 1 example of how she has lost her independence since leaving there. This is unacceptable.
This center is non communicating . A patient can turn light on for help and no one comes for hours and hours .I was there with my mom and was helping her go to bathroom and I asked for help and they pointed me to a closet that said employees only and said everything you need is in there , but I was having a hard time holding her up not cleaning .they do not communicate about Dr appts and when they go to doctors they loose paperwork sent back .this place should be free ,the only positive thing that can be said it does look clean , so the janitors do a good job
