I'm reading the reviews posted here, and some of them are bogus at best. The quality of care you get is based on your expectations. I recently had my loved one there, and I think the care given was excellent! I also didn't expect the staff to be my personal servants. We go there for therapy, not to be waited on hand and foot. If you participate in the therapy, you will get the results! No. it's not a five star resort esthetically, but it is adequate. Also the staff are very friendly and attentive to your needs - they do the best they can while tending to the needs of the other 10 or so patients they have. I would recommend Signature hands down!

I am submitting this review as the son of a resident at Signature HealthCARE, Chapel Hill. I’ve been deeply concerned about the level of care my mother, Valerie Sellars, has received. She has serious buttock wounds that require daily cleaning and pain medication beforehand — but staff have repeatedly failed to provide consistent wound care, administer her pain meds before cleaning, or give her diabetes medication on time. During one of my visits, I overheard a nurse discussing my mother’s condition loudly at the nursing station, using demeaning, explicit language and laughing with coworkers — which was both unprofessional and a major violation of her privacy. I’ve also tried to reach out via the social worker multiple times, but she didn’t respond until the day I came in to discharge my mom myself because the care was so poor. I believe this is medical neglect. She’s been to the ER several times, but once she’s at the rehab facility, her wound care gets neglected. This isn’t a small oversight — it’s a serious issue that has forced me to take off work repeatedly just to make sure she’s safe. I hope Signature HealthCARE takes this feedback seriously, investigates what’s going on, and makes real changes. Patients deserve consistent, respectful, and competent care — especially when they’re vulnerable.

Was a little uncertain about the facility given other reviews, but found it to be a great place with very competent, friendly, and caring staff. Staff work well together, the place is very clean, and the food is great. PT/OT staff are the best—workouts are fun and productive! Management staff are very helpful and clearly operate on the philosophy that the patient comes first! This place is better than some of the 5 star facilities in Durham. Give them a try! You won’t be disappointed!

From the moment we arrived, it was chaos. The staff acted like they didn’t even expect him. There was no TV in his room, not even a table for him to eat on. A full week passed before I finally had to ask them to wash his clothes. I live far away, so in desperation I bought him new clothes from Ross, because I honestly didn’t know if they would ever be washed. One morning at 6 AM, I got a call telling me my father—with dementia—had “refused” his medicine. On another visit, I found him in his room eating unattended… chewing on a napkin. And after he fell out of his wheelchair in the middle of the night, I found him alone, with the wheelchair’s wheel locks not even engaged. Then they told me they were discharging him because he “wouldn’t do the physical therapy,” giving me only two days’ notice—and over a weekend—to prepare. I could never reach an administrator by phone. When I finally decided to bring him home (because I felt they were being neglectful), the staff treated me coldly, made me sign “Against Medical Advice” documents—even though they had already said he was being discharged—and literally left me to get my weak, soiled father into the car by myself. Additionally, they refused to provide me with an updated medication list or discharge summary - claiming (for the first time during his month stay) that they had no record of our healthcare power of attorney...which seemed retaliatory. And here’s the most telling part: after just two weeks of physical therapy away from this facility, my father is walking again. My heart broke every time I heard residents crying and complaining of the mistreatment. This place felt less like a care facility and more like a jail. I would strongly advise anyone considering Signature Healthcare of Chapel Hill to think twice before sending your loved one here. Your family deserves dignity, compassion, and real care—none of which we experienced. And to the facility—don’t bother responding to this review with the usual public performance of concern. I’m not interested in the theatre of pretending you care, when it’s clear you only care about the negative review, not the people you’re supposed to be caring for.

From the time I was admitted on the 4th I already feel like a new person due to the excellent customer service and patient care from everyone including the housekeepers, nurses, therapy department and my aides. The admissions person Dana has also been checking on me everyday she's a very nice lady and very pleasant. Great sense of humor and very professional. Desiree my aide has went above and beyond in every aspect of care. I would highly recommend signature healthcare of chapel hill for all your needs.
