I witnessed the nurses, ensuring that the patients are being heard. I witnessed the nurses double checking with the patients to ensure that you’re getting the care that they wish and need. And the place was very well taken care of.

its beautiful inside very nice dining room area and living room/ activities room area. my sister is currently staying at laurel , they have very nice staff and nurses on site . rooms are clean and it looks more like a hotel then a nursing facility. I highly recommend this center

There were only a few staff members that actually cared and tended to patients with a good bedside manner. When dealing with the elderly, the staff must have patience, some at the Laurel Center were rude and ignorant to residents which I personally witnessed. If there's one piece of advice I can give to someone that is considering placing a loved one here that would be VISIT and VISIT often. By visiting often it shows the staff that you are present and notice things. Our biggest complaint was the food. EVERYTIME my mom received a meal it was cold or hard, or both cold and hard. The menu also would show she was to receive a dinner roll, she may have received 2 out of her 19 day stay. We had to make sure someone went to visit her daily to ensure she ate something that day. You know the food is bad when you over hear staff make the comment "dog food is better than the food they serve here". They only bathe the residents 2 times a week and don't dare ask for them to bathe your loved one on days they have a dr appointment. The nurse said it wouldn't be an issue when we asked but on the day of her appointment they told her they can't change shower days. In the 19 days she was there she NEVER received a shower on the same days. Not to mention if you are there for rehab and you have any type of brace they will not remove it for a shower unless your Dr specifically states on the orders "remove for showering/bathing". My mom had an ace bandage on her leg and hand. When the ace bandage became loose they would not re-wrap it for her. They told her it wasn't in her doctors orders. She told them that I would do it when I came down, then miraculously they were able to re-wrap it for her. My mom's orders stated she had a minor wound that bandaging needed to be changed twice a week when showering. Her bandage was last changed on 5/19 which her doctor removed on 5/27. Her doctor gave her a letter stating she has no restrictions and can go home. This was at approximately 1pm when they received the letter and they told us that discharge isn't possible the same day, that it takes 48 hours to discharge a resident. Low and behold because we asked and she refused to stay any longer she was discharged 5 hours later. Don't get me wrong, the facility is severely understaffed. There were 2 CNA/LPN to cover 30+ patients. They would put some residents in bed between 2 & 3pm which only gave them a couple hours to actually sit in a chair to eat lunch. Knowing all of this and since we were there nightly, we would help my mom change, get ready for bed, and in bed before we left for the evening to ensure she got to bed at a reasonable time, otherwise they may not have helped her change and get in bed until 10pm.

I was very happy first with just seeing the nice setting the building was in and in the inside it was clean and everybody was working and pleasant and the relative I visited was doing well in his room so there were no complaints whatsoever.

The staff is very kind and friendly. My father-in-law is being well taken care of. The other residents were also kind and friendly.
