I can never understand people who make generalizations about the overall quality of a facility based on only one experience.
My wife and I have been living on this mountain for over 30 years full-time and I hate to think of how many times I've been here for ER or radiology or blood work or CT scans or x-ray; I think I've seen just about every department here and I can't recall any experience that was anything less than outstanding. EVER.
Not too long ago I had pain in my left arm, which can be a sign of heart trouble. It wasn't debilitating by any measure but I thought I should have it checked, just in case. I went into the ER, told the receptionist my problem and within a couple of minutes I was in the back, IV started, blood being drawn, monitors hooked up and beeping away... everyone was friendly, caring, and telling me exactly what was happening and who was doing what. Then came the mobile x-ray, heated blankets, and so on. It was a "swarm" of friendly, caring people. The doctor came in and again explained was what happening, and what to expect in the next couple of hours. It turned out to be nothing and I had over-reacted, but I was assured that I had done the right thing by coming in.
I've been with my wife through 20+ years of her breast cancer and I've seen a lot of big-name medical facilities in Southern California. UCLA, Loma Linda, St. Bernadines, etc. Mountains Community Hospital certainly measures up. It's smaller, for sure, but in my experience that's a good thing.
They also have a skilled nursing facility (SNF) attached to the hospital. I've seen over a dozen similar facilities in the San Bernardino area; this one is in a league by itself. My wife is now a resident there and even before she was admitted I felt like I had a new family. Everyone is so friendly, personable, and eager to give outstanding care. Squeaky clean and very quiet. They take good care of me, too, and even thank me for coming to visit my wife. And the food... people who complain about hospital food have clearly not eaten here! Needless to say, the food is quite good. As of this writing they have earned Medicare's highest rating. Again, it's small and again, that's a good thing.
The skilled nursing has a beautiful outdoor area where the residents can enjoy the sun and nature. If they can't get out there by themselves, the staff will take them. I'll let the attached picture do the talking.
I wish I could give the hospital and SNF more than 5 stars!

We had to visit the ER today. Everyone there was so caring, competent, and friendly. They saw the emergency and got my friend stabilized before they even had us do paperwork. This is a true community hospital and I’m so grateful it’s there. They treated all patients we saw today with respect and compassion. Thank you, MPC. I feel safer and calmer knowing that your hospital is open when we need medical attention.

Tisha in Radiology is truly a beacon of light. She went above and beyond to facilitate scheduling imaging from an outside provider, making multiple calls to obtain authorization and navigating the many hurdles of the healthcare system. Her dedication and persistence ensured the process moved forward smoothly.
What stood out most was her compassion and professionalism—she exemplifies excellence, justice, and genuine care in every interaction. I am deeply grateful for her support and kindness.

Been to ER twice recently. Both times seen right away. Easy n close parking. Super friendly staff. Clean facilities. Way better than any ER down the hill. No shady looking / homeless cracky types.
But their billing dept charged me when I was told medi-cal would cover all of it. Trying to figure that out. I got billed 2k when I was told would cost me nothing. I can't get a hold of anyone over the phone. Horrible customer service. Going to have to go in person today and try to figure it out. Just kind of worried. They're going to mess up my credit when I do nothing wrong. For that giant hassle, one star for sure. What a horrible company and they don't know how to do their billing which what other reviewers have complained as well. You would think that they would get it under control.
