I had a great short stay at Morgantown Heights where I received excellent care. The food was delicious, and the activities team went above and beyond to tailor activities to my interests. The therapy department worked diligently to ensure I was safe and ready to return home, and nursing staff made sure my medications were given on time and with care. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of quality care and a supportive environment.

My brother recently stayed here for “rehab” and did not have a good experience. However, the leadership was responsive to our concerns, Greg who works there was very helpful and experienced. I advise that valuables and cash be kept secured.

Since the new management team took over at Morgantown Heights, the positive changes have been truly remarkable. The leadership has brought new energy, compassion, and accountability to every part of the building. Residents are receiving more personalized care, staff communication has improved, and the entire atmosphere feels more welcoming and resident-focused.

My father spent the last three years of his life at this facility. It changed hands a couple of times during his residence. There were some excellent staff members, like Tim in nursing and Nikki in the billing department. You could definitely tell the staff members who really cared. There were also some nursing staff members who treated my father very well. They generally kept the facility clean, and the physical therapy team was also very good. The one aspect of his care that I was not as satisfied with was the communication from the physicians taking care of him. Although the nurses were great, I didn't speak to the physician who primarily took care of him the entire time that he was there. I didn't have one conversation with that man. I had one conversation with his PA, Ben, who seemed knowledgeable and caring. But that was near the end of my dad's life. I found out about appointments through the WVU Medicine portal. That's also how I found out about his test results. If I wanted to know how they were going to treat a problem, I had to ask, and then it usually took a few phone calls, and I spoke to a nurse or someone not in charge of his care. The physician who saw him at WVU commented that no information was available about my father's condition when he was brought to the hospital. So, it sounds like the doctor didn't communicate about his care to other physicians either. I'm not going to penalize the entire staff and facility for the poor quality of care and negligence demonstrated by a few. But if I were rating the quality of the medical care received from the physician, I would give this facility a much lower rating. I advocated for my father's needs, but many of the other residents do not have a family who are involved in their care. Therefore, it's even more important for the physicians to take good care of the patients and to ensure that the families are informed about their status. It's hard enough to have your parent in this kind of facility, let alone how stressful it is not to have communication, or to know how they will be cared for. It certainly fits the stereotype of nursing homes in this country. I wish the staff who treated my father well nothing but the best.

I would recommend this facility to anyone needing rehab services. I stayed here for 3 weeks and gained my strength back after a traumatic fall. The staff here are wonderful and actually listen. Thank you!
