LIFE CARE CENTER OF MOUNT VERNON

Life Care Center “took care” of my grandmother for a short period near the end of her life. This place should be shut down for elder abuse. She was absolutely miserable there and was neglected 90% of the time. She pushed her call button for help and nobody showed up for hours. She would tell me about it on the phone and I (I am out of state) would call the front desk trying to get ahold of someone, EVEN DURING “BUSINESS HOURS,” and nobody answers the phone. My grandma’s favorite night gown was stolen by another resident and they did nothing. After all of this needless torture, I decided to move her to a different facility. She lived out the remainder of her life in a much better place and recently found peace for her soul. If anyone has any tips for reporting elder abuse, please let me know. I am going to do some research to report them as soon as possible. -10/10, do not recommend (unless you really hate your nanna and want her to suffer I guess).

The staff are so caring & patient, you can see how dignity for their patients is a top priority...I have been very impressed with the staff. That said, I would say the missing piece is communication. Trying to find out what is happening with the care plan on your family member is non-existent. Nobody calls to discuss anything. I might get snippets of info from nurses but it is inconsistent. Food is pretty good, that's a plus.

Gloria at the front counter was very helpful in helping us check in and figure out the people we needed to see. For my first time there it was welcoming and caring. So thank you guys for all the hard work you do.

We came to visit our friend during a busy dinner hour. An employee came from an office to greet us and to give us directions to our friends’s room. Whether encountered or observed, all employees seemed genuinely happy to work together and to serve others. We left feeling thankful for these employees and for the presence of Life Care in our community.

Arrived @ 1:00 on a Wednesday and the place was quite busy with staff and residents. Clean, brightly lit hallways, postive atmosphere. Visiting my mother in law for an hour and at least 7 staff came in and out, checking on her, assisting where needed, etc. Elder care is hard work and often not as rewarding as other healthcare occupations. I'm impressed with this place.
