I waited several months to post this review to see if my anger subsided, but my dad and I were recently talking about his stay here and it upset me all over again. I feel for the nurses and some of the aides and the social worker who really are kind and doing their best, but this place is overall ABYSMAL. My father is 90 years old and came here for rehab. I’ve never seen him so depressed in my life, although he thankfully rebounded after his release. The place is so understaffed that it can take an hour or more just for them to respond to the button. During that time, he was often immobilized, unable even to sit up or turn off the light, but some of the aides yelled at him when he would complain. He once called me on the verge of tears because he needed water and no one would respond. I called the desk three times over the span of 20 minutes, and the nurse had the nerve to yell at me and hang up on me…for requesting that someone bring my father water. I finally threatened to call the police, and only then did he get his water. I complained and spoke to someone all the way at the top of the company, but it only helped in the short-term. I also often found that his catheter bag was full and on the verge of bursting. I don’t know what they pay, but I do know that some of the staff members there should never be allowed to work with the public, let alone the sick and vulnerable. The fact that they haven’t been fired tells me that they must not pay well enough to attract decent staff. I’m sure lots of other homes are like this, but I still feel I need to be honest so as to help others make an informed decision or to get the attention of management. As far as I understand, this place is under new management and it’s very much about the financial bottom line, which only ever leads to worse care. What scares me is that they also do dementia care, and I fear for those who are unable to express themselves or remember how they were treated. This place was a nightmare.

I went to visit my mom, Catherine Regan, age 91, at her new home on the second floor of United Hebrew. I could not be happier to see what is going on at this wonderful facility! There is no smell of urine when you enter the building, enter the floor, nor any of the rooms! The facility is spotless the floors are Shining, the employees caring for my mother could not be friendlier, happier, nor more caring! My mother's clothes were clean and neat, she look like she could have attended church very easily! Her fingernails were clean, her hair was clean and nicely brushed, she had no skin abnormalities that I could discern, certainly no skin tears, and as my mother said to me," I feel fine!". I'm an old RN that has a lot of nursing home experience. I put myself through nursing school in the 70s working as an aide in a nursing home. At intermittent times in my life I worked as an RN dispensing medication in nursing homes and then went on to be a lawyer defending nursing homes. United Hebrew is what every Skilled Nursing Facility should strive to be! Thank you Joanne, and much thanks to all the pleasant people who are doing so much for my mother and our family! God bless you all!

Both of my parents were at United Hebrew from 2019 - 2021. My father was ill from a stroke and paralyzed one side and unable to speak - my mother was well but had some dementia and wanted to stay by my father's side - she died until he died at UH end of 2020. I am writing a review today as my mother has passed at home now - and in thinking back I called to thank the Staff at UH for their excellent care for both of my parents on all fronts and at the time I was with UH - I had a very positive experience on all fronts. They did their best to keep parents connected with children before, during and after Covid. I called every day to connect with my mother when I did not visit. I have been a pretty devoted child going three times a week or more. I reached out to thank them again, upon my mother's passing for making me feel like family and for helping me with all situations which arose. The facility is lovely, the medical and nursing staff above average - occasional glitches of course. Aides are often very good, this is the most challenging part of any nursing home - good aides are hard to find. My father was the medical director of a nursing home all of his life before he retired - this is always hard as it is a hard job to be an aide overall. No nursing homes are perfect, but some come very close to being consistently excellent and in the end it is the medecinal care which matters most and a kind administrative staff and social workers. That is UH. I do think of this facility as a part of the course of my parents lives and because it was a happy experience I called them to say thank you, upon my last parent's death. Wishing anyone who needs care for a parent to consider UH very highly and to take the time to visit.

My mother went here for post surgical rehab. The PT was originally supplied by Burke and was outstanding. Then they changed and the quality went down. The big problems came at discharge. They were supposed to order her a wheelchair and commode. We received neither. Any attempts to reach out to UH went unanswered. I guess they only care for the patient as long as they are getting paid. Once you leave, good luck.

I came to United Hebrew and found my mother at the Juneteenth Celebration. The singer, James Ramsey, was phenomenal! I was late, and quietly went to sit on the floor next to my mom. Someone working there quickly ran over and had a chair ready for me. The four workers in the room were incredible! A big shout out to them! I believe I may have been the only visitor in there at the time (but may be wrong) and wanted to share what I saw. The workers (I wish I knew their names) were dancing with the patients both standing and in wheelchairs! The joy and happiness in the room was incredible! It brought tears to my eyes! You could feel how genuinely loved the patients felt! James did a fantastic job. What an amazing singer! Thank you to the workers for their hard work and dedication. Our family is forever grateful for your kindness, hard work and LOVE you show to the people living there everyday. You worked on a Federal Holiday and made their day very special......thank you, thank you!!
