I was referred to San Luis Care Center after having surgery of my foot. The place is a little outdated and like any other facility (as this), over worked and under-staffed, but let me tell you I am beyond thankful for the nurses and CNA’s at this place. Every worker tries to go above and beyond in accommodating me and with a smile on their face. Overall I’m very pleased with my three week stay at San Luis.

I had my reservations about nursing homes in general but my experience with this place has changed my mind. My uncle stayed here for a bit until transferred to a facility closer to us. During his stay here the staff was very helpful and the CNAs were pleasant and treated my uncle with nothing but kindness and respect. From what I saw the place looked clean and nice, didn’t look dirty or gross. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

I had the opportunity to precept at this facility for my BSN program. I was grateful to have the opportunity to experience a different type of nursing environment. I appreciate the nursing care that they give to their residents. The Unit Manager and DON have the heart for nursing and it shows through the compassionate care that they provided. They are both very knowledgeable and were always willing to answer any questions I had. I learned a variety of different nursing roles while I was there and it was a great learning experience. Thank you San Luis for allowing me to precept at your facility.

We came to visit my uncle and we left the place in a very emotional state. Found the place lack of hygiene, the entire place had an offensive smell. An obvious lack of hygiene can also affect a persons life. Some companies have a hygiene policy in place for the protection of employees and company image, especially if you have a public-facing role but this place was bad. They hardly bath the resident (once or twice weekly), Change bedding sheet (once a week). Room was untidy, dirty and un orgainzed. So you can imagine why I am upset and feel that people should know about this place. However found one good thing and that was the staff...they ALL were lovely and supportive...thank you all the staff 🙏 the health authorities should give them a surprise visit to see for themselves...

Long story short….My aunt was at this facility for 7 days. She went in on a Friday and passed away the following Friday 💔 2 of the CNA’s were the only one’s with a compassionate heart. When I got the call of my aunts passing All the nurse was concerned was you “ only have a 4 hour window to move her body”…. I’m still speechless of all the bad attitudes and treatment.💔
