What a wonderful place for your loved one to call home. I cannot say enough about the staff. Every individual we dealt with was simply incredible. The care is excellent. The food is wonderful plenty of activities if they wish to participate. This is five star all the way. Treating the residence with dignity and respect at all times.
My experiences at The Willows of Okemos have been exceptional. The facility is beautiful, clean and well outfitted. The common spaces, activity rooms, small living rooms in many places are very attractive and feel like home. The daily activity options offer a wide variety of things to do from arts/crafts to social events, games and out and about trips. Great!!!! But, in my opinion, the staff is the BEST part of The Willows of Okemos!!! They treat the residents with care and compassion. They are positive, caring people and I’m so happy my stepmom can call it home.❤️
The Willows staff, the nurse, medical assistant, physical therapist, and food service, allowed my mother to languish for an entire day in bed, barely able to speak because she was so out of breath. She and our family relied on them to care for her after being in the hospital for 2 weeks with breathing problems. I just happened to be there to deliver her something and found her nauseous, gasping for air, bp and pulse and oxygenation at critical levels. If I hadn’t yelled for them to call 911, she wouldn’t have survived the night. She was admitted to ICU that evening, critically ill. They failed her trust and failed their declared mission to serve their residents. And our family diligently visited and engaged while she was in their care, yet they managed to nearly show my mother to death’s door. I wouldn’t let them care for a plant - they’d forget to water it.
I visited for a family brunch a while back and was so pleased to see my loved one in such a lovely facility. The staff is incredible, Michelle was particularly polite and so helpful! The facility is spotless, the food was delicious and healthy, and the residents were in great spirits due to the many activities they had set up for the residents. Lovely place!
Well I have to say the staff is pretty nice and friendly all except this one aide. I believe her name is Mary and her job is usually working in the activity department doing Fridays happy hour. I have seen her pay attention to certain residents and other residents she ignores. She doesn’t treat all residents the same. When family members attend happy hour or activities with their loved one she tends to be rude to the family member. I know during happy hour they hand out popcorn to everyone who attends including the family member but not this aide. She doesn’t offer popcorn to the family member and sometimes won’t even offer the resident any. I have seen her cover the cart that is full of popcorn bags , hide the cart behind counter and tell residents and their member especially the family member that theirs not enough . How can there not be enough when everyone who is there has popcorn already and there’s still a cart full. For the price we pay for our family member to be here you can’t tell me she can’t give out a bag of popcorn. She is the only one who does this. All the other aides are friendly and even ask if you would like something to drink. I have been in this place quite a bit all ways here on Fridays. It’s a shame how one bad apple can ruin the bunch.
