I'm writing this as a resident at Avalon. When I first got here I couldn't even roll over in the bed. After three months of hard work and so much help from the nursing, CNA and therapy departments, I was able to start walking again. The activities department is absolutely amazing. Daily activities seven days a week and so much fun. Thank you to the entire staff at Avalon Health and Rehab for giving me my life back.

My grandmother spent the last month at Avalon, and the nursing staff—especially Monica—was incredible. They were compassionate, patient, and treated her with real dignity. Monica was truly exceptional. However, the discharge experience was unacceptable. We were sent home on hospice with a prescription that wasn’t available anywhere in the entire Tri-Cities. When I asked for help, Cheri, the director, offered no solutions, gave me the runaround, and told me that if my dying grandmother couldn’t tolerate the pain, I should take her to the hospital. After getting no help from the facility, I contacted Tri-City Chaplaincy, who stepped in, called the pharmacies themselves, and helped us find an alternative. The care inside the building was wonderful, but the lack of support during discharge was deeply disappointing and added unnecessary stress during my grandmother’s final days.

I was impressed with the improvements at Avalon Health & Rehab in Pasco. My aunt was there a couple of months ago, and I just saw it again, what a difference! The whole place looks and feels so much better. It's great to see.

The level of care from CNAs and some nursing staff was excellent. Administration was horrible. There was no communication to families at all. After a 3+ month stay for motor rehabilitation, finally the last three weeks they decided to start pushing her to do PT. Very frustrating place for families and patients.

I'm writing this review for my grandmother. She needed a hoyer lift because she couldn't walk, and when they would use it, she would yelp in pain. They even drew blood on her one time, while using the hoyer, put a dressing on her wound, and marked it with the date, 3/27. When we moved grandma into a different care facility, that original bandage that said "3/27" was still on her leg on April 9th, two weeks later. It took over half an hour for anyone to answer the call button. I watched one of the nurses bring my grandma a Boost, and remove the straw from the old Boost and put it in the new Boost. That's a milk-based product. Whenever they would come in to change her, they always left something on the floor that I would clean up after them. Also they were encouraging her in her goal of "losing weight" and agreed to stop giving her Ensures if she would eat more food, but she didn't eat more. When my grandma checked into Avalon, she weighed 152 pounds. When she checked out of Avalon a month later, she weighed 137 pounds. They even lost her wheelchair. She checked in with one, but when she checked out they couldn't find it, and I don't think they even bothered looking. So I guess that's our problem now. Also, she checked into Avalon with a walker. Think she checked out with that? Of course not. That's gone too. This place is horrible.
