It appears that the employees are always a little understaffed, but they work hard to meet the needs of the patients. The facility is old and takes additional cleaning and sanitation to make it presentable. The social worker does a wonderful job to make things run well!! Very considerate of all situations and problems she faces on a daily basis. The Food is very good and on time. All outside doctor appointments for the VA are handled With transportation and patients being prepared to be transported! Our family is grateful for your help!

I tried everything to not have to get up here and post but after almost 2 years with my daughter there and her being a veteran and having a trach in she had a massive heart attack due to the covid vaccine if your family member is not able to do anything for themselves this is not the place for them I can't speak for the ones that's able to communicate in any way my daughter isn't able to so please let this faculty be your last opinion I'm 1 hour and 30 minutes away and still can't get there as much as I would like to but my presence is known in that place about my child and I really think the VA should pull their contract my daughter right now has been in Floyd medical center for the last 2 weeks with pneumonia and a bright lung due to not being sucking out properly until fluid billed up in her lungs until the point where they couldn't get it out I pray nothing happens like this to your loved ones and ICU staff are familiar with patience from etowah 7 falls in a year and a half for someone that's not able to move herself so you decide if this is where you want your family member to be and again though all the ups and downs with them I still tried now I'm having to send my child to another state to try and get her off the ventilator because of the pneumonia her O2is 100 percent blood pressure great just pray for my family and hopefully when she's better we can finally get her home for in home care and yes she's 24/7 care and just turned 39 this year heart attack Dec 2022 God is good all the time never give up and please fight because I'll never stop fighting and to other families of veterans that had heart attacks after being forced to take the COVID shot my heart goes out to you. The 2 people that are amazing for me is the social worker she's a person you can rely on when you need help with anything and what happened to my daughter is on the nurses and the respiratory department and I'm only speaking on my daughter because she was accepted because they accept contacts and her VA social workersl is amazing too and I'm glad they didn't hesitate to help me some of the things that happened there is out of their control and they can only follow up on whatever takes place again thanks Alex for always being a phone call away God Bless you dear

My mom is gone and I am heartbroken.. All they could tell me was that someone checked on her at 5pm and she was fine. When they went back in she didn’t have a pulse.. she was completely fine when I visited the day before. I was actually in the process of finding somewhere else for her to go and receive care and weaning off ventilator. My mom fought hard for a whole year and was making a lot of progress. I wish I would’ve gotten her out sooner.. unfortunately GA doesn’t have the best options for people who are on ventilators. my family and I need more answers than what ya’ll gave. I am truly heartbroken and my life is ruined. I lost my best friend. 💔

My father was a non-verbal quadriplegic at Etowah Landing for less than a month, and the neglect was unbelievable. He developed a massive bedsore that sent him into septic shock. I walked in one day and found him gasping for air, alone, with black secretions coming from his tracheostomy. Every time he was hospitalized, the secretions cleared up, then came right back after he returned here. Our private sitters said staff ignored their calls for help and even told them, "He’s dying anyway." His linens were often dirty or soiled, and the notebook we kept to document everything mysteriously disappeared. There is also a bug problem. An infestation. I finally pulled him out, and that decision probably saved his life. Believe the bad reviews. What happened to my father was real, and no one’s loved one deserves to be treated this way.

My father has only been here a short time, but I can see the difference in the level of care he is receiving. He has gained weight and they’ve got him up and walking around, previously at other facilities he was constantly attempting to get out of bed and falling due to a lack of PT or appropriate assistance. Here he is encouraged to move and given the tools he needs to do so.
