I knew Del Mar was the SNF to go when I had to start considering it for my mom. She was going to be transferred there from Garfield Hospital and I needed to start getting things ready for the change. I got connected with Vivien immediately and she was able to answer my million questions on the spot and was really reassuring throughout the whole process (and more!). I quickly stopped by the facility for a tour with Ivy and felt really good about the decision. Facility was clean, brightly lit, and very well staffed. My mom was admitted mid June and the team took exceptional care of her. She has a long list of complicated issues, but Jie (Director of Nursing) reassured me she's had patients before with similar conditions. Everyone there is extremely kind and patient with her, making it really easy for her to trust them. They were quick to identify issues and would always call me when they felt she needed to be sent into the hospital. I can't say enough great things about the care team, especially the ones that constantly have my mom - Ping, Aydee, Selina, TB, Mayra. There are SO many others here that have contributed to her care and we're all so thankful for them.

My grandmother has stayed at Del Mar Convalescent Hospital twice now, once in 2016 and again in the last few months. And both times, we’re just so happy with the exceptional care she received. The facility was overall well-maintained and clean. The staff was excellent! Friendly and caring. Shoutout to Vivian, who was always so helpful. The PT team was also great, very receptive to feedback and coming up with new treatment plans.

My mother was stayed at Delmar Convalescent facility from 8/6/2024 to 9/4/2024. In less than a month, my mother got Covid from the facility, sustained a fall that result in broken her right hip and public bone. They transferred my mother to nearby hospital- Garfield Medical Center. This hospital doesn't have Orthopedic department at all. Here are the reasons for my rating: 1. Infection control: very poor. Everyone entered the facility must do Covid test and record temperature. However, they had an Covid outbreak mid August, and # of infected staff & residents kept increasing. Delmar did not move Covid positive resident to different room to protect other residents on the same room (there were 4 in 1 room ). No isolation sign was posted to alert visitors or residents on my mother's room. I saw the staffs gowned up when took care of my mother's roommates. Soon after, my mother was positive. When I asked staff if my mother needed to move to different room, they said " no, they all had it". 2. Night shift staff didn't check the residents as they were supposed to. I found my mother's diaper was soaked and fell apart to small pieces as it was soaking wet for many hours. My mother had a few severe diaper rashes from the night shift. My mother fell during the night also. Delmar refused to take my mother back for rehab after orthopedic surgery from Keck. The facility was cleaned. They waxed the floor daily. Rehab team was great. I have no complaint about the staff on the day shift. Their customer service was good during the day shift.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding care my mom received during her 100-day stay at Del Mar Convalescent Hospital following her hip replacement surgery. From the moment we arrived, the staff demonstrated exceptional professionalism, compassion, and dedication to her recovery. The nursing team was attentive and always available to address any concerns, ensuring my mom's comfort and well-being. The physical therapists were incredibly skilled and patient, guiding her through each step of her rehabilitation with encouragement and expertise. The facility itself was clean, well-maintained, and provided a welcoming environment that made her feel at home. Special thanks to the administrative staff for their efficiency and kindness, making the entire process smooth and stress-free for our family. Del Mar Convalescent Hospital truly went above and beyond in providing top-notch care, and I highly recommend the hospital to anyone in need of rehabilitation services. Friendly staffs, my mother has been staying here for 2 months. Many staffs can speak/ understand Chinese, my mom feels very comfortable during her stay. A lot of restaurants nearby, make it easier for me to pick up some food before visiting. Weekly physical therapy and many activities to keep residents busy. My mom enjoys playing BINGO there.
