I have taught zumba at the Osborn for 20 years. What a beautiful place. What a wonderful staff. You couldn't find a better place. The grounds are stunning, the residents look very happy. There is a great sense of comraderie. They offer such interesting and engaging activities that appeal to every walk. Fabulous place
I went to rehab at the Osborn years ago and got really bad care. The worst Aides I ever encountered who were actually cruel. The physical therapists were very good and the gardens were beautiful. But hopefully they are paying their aides better. I went there directly from the hospital after spine surgery. Of course I did complain but was so happy to leave. Never again for me.
Disappointed and Frustrated – A Lack of Compassion When It Mattered Most My 84-year-old father was a rehab patient at The Osborn in Rye, and I’m deeply disappointed by how his situation was handled. During his stay, he became very ill—he had a fever, was in pain, extremely fatigued, and had difficulty breathing. He was eventually sent to the hospital, where he tested positive for COVID. I spoke with Noreen, who I understand manages the Social Work department. She told me my father “didn’t want to come back” to The Osborn. When I asked if she had spoken directly with him, she admitted she hadn’t. She claimed a nurse had spoken to him while he was being taken out on a stretcher to the ambulance. He was clearly unwell and not in a position to make such a decision, which makes this entire situation feel like the facility was pushing him out. What’s particularly upsetting is the lack of basic infection control. There’s a clearly posted sign at the Pavilion entrance stating masks are required. My family followed that rule—but we observed multiple staff members walking around without masks. That level of carelessness isn’t just concerning—it’s unacceptable. And then my father, while under the care of the facility, contracts COVID. It’s hard not to see the connection. When I brought this up to Noreen, she was dismissive, and instead of addressing my concerns, told me a nurse would call me. I asked to speak with someone from the executive team. No one followed up. The saddest part is how transactional it all felt—as if this was about clearing a bed rather than caring for a person. And that’s a shame, because I had been working with Elizer, a social worker who was thoughtful, professional, and compassionate. Noreen could take a page from his book when it comes to empathy and communication. Families like mine place a great deal of trust in facilities like The Osborn. That trust was broken—and it didn’t need to be.
This review is specifically about the Pavilion, the Rehab section at the Osborne. If you care for your loved one, avoid the Pavilion at all costs. My parent was there for 6 days and was neglected. I was with there most of the time and my parent's call button was rarely answered. Due to their negligence, I had to call the paramedics one morning so we could receive the care we needed. The 911 operator even admitted that it was hard for them to get a response from Pavilion staff. Go elsewhere and avoid the risk.
Visited a relative here. On the surface the Osborn Pavillion looks very caring and involved in patient care.
