HIGHLAND CHATEAU HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTER

I have been in three nursing homes, this is by far the best. The food is good and plenty, and the staff is wonderful. There are a lot of activities to keep me busy, I love it here. I'm being placed in assisted living soon, I'm really going to miss this place.

Building is nice. Staff is very nice helpful and welcoming to visitors, but takes them 1hr to 1- 1/2 hrs to respond to a call light. Been 2 days to get something we asked for they said it would be an hour. Air-conditioned areas are office areas only. So residents with asthma or breathing problems will have a rough time. Meals are not bad, they seems to have a good variety and selection for everyone. Activities are fun and give residents something to do, however my family member is still waiting for the schedule and someone to get his 2nd air tank.so he can join in on some fun activities. The public bathroom door has a lock, staff made me use a shower bathroom for the residents, instead of giving me the key to use the public one. Social worker (A) is amazing, she is easy to talk to, caring and encouraging to talk to. She is very good at her job.

While I was visiting my mom. The nurse aids was ignoring my my mom's call light. When I ask them to help her. Two of the nurse aids said she had to wait for the nurse. Both the aids was just walking around doing nothing. Her room was not clean.

We left AMA after calling our doctor who felt it safer for him to be home. No safety measures such as bed rails. Beds don’t operate as expected. We couldn’t even get the bathroom room door to fully open. Staff seemed to disappear once we showed up. No toilet should be held up by 2x4s. Staff is not trained to handle complex surgeries like back fusion and what they did could have caused more harm. And they refused to give him the medication prescribed for him to take home when we left early because he left against medical advice. Lack of any accountability. Once we got through the door all the staff disappeared.

Have a family member that was recovering from some health issues and was placed at this facility. I went to visit him. It is the most terribly ran place I have ever been to. There was a man sitting in the dark in his bedroom in nothing but his underwear because he was hot and trying to stay cool because it was the middle of the summer and their air conditioning didn't work anywhere in the building. The hallways and the entire building stink of pee. My family member said there was times where he would press the button for help and hours would pass before anyone came. This place needs to be shut down and the people relocated to be honest not to mention the food I heard is absolutely terrible and I would never recommend anyone to put their loved one in a place like this for any reason
