I would give ZERO stars if I could. The first thing you notice when you walk into this place is the stench. Everything, and I mean everything, is dirty. I would see stuff on the floor that would still be there a week later. The bathrooms were disgusting too. Whenever I would visit, I'd wash my hands 2 or 3 times when I left. The place is nasty! The entire staff consists of people that don't want to speak English. Many of them know English but, if you go to ask them a question or, to clean something, they pretend they don't know English. Very clever... My brother was brought here after having a massive stroke. He had the use of his right hand, that's about it. These despicable people who call themselves health care workers couldn't care less about patients. They would drop off my brothers food tray and walk off. They did not help unwrap each portion so he sat there hungry and helpless until they came to pick the tray back up. I've seen patients repeatedly slam their food trays onto the bedside table to get attention because they would lay there for hours otherwise. Thank God one of my sisters lived close-by and could bring him decent meals a few times a week. While I was there visiting he told me he had asked for a blanket because he was cold. They never brought him one. I went to the desk to tell them. They were all sitting around on their phones! I told them my brother asked for a blanket 2 hours ago and I am NOT leaving until he gets one!! I made sure he got a blanket before i left. It's a shame family members can't have the peace of mind of knowing their loved one is being cared for. I always felt so guilty when I went home, leaving him behind in that dump! My brother was a US Marine Vietnam veteran. He languished in this dump for 7 months before he passed away. He served his country with pride and deserved the highest level of care possible. Instead, he was treated like a dog. At one point, when he was being moved from a wheelchair to his bed, they DROPPED HIM!! As he had no control over his body, his head BOUNCED OFF THE FLOOR!!! This is just great for a guy who had a STROKE!!! They never told the family! No doctor was called to check on him!!! These people should hang their heads in SHAME!!!! I laughed when I saw some of the responses to people's reviews: "We strive to have a highest level of communication" What a JOKE!!! Too bad you don't strive to provide the highest level of patient care!! He has passed away and although our hearts ache, at least our family knows he is no long suffering in this hell hole anymore. TIP: Pay ZERO attention to the FAKE reviews saying how clean the place is and how caring the staff is!

This place is the worse place I have ever been to and it’s a nightmare. The patients who cannot care for themselves are on their own because no one is willing to help the patients. My dad was there and he waited for a glass of water 3 hours and he had to go to the bathroom and someone told him they will be with him to help him in a few minutes. He waited 2 hours until he couldn’t hold it anymore and peed himself, then he had to sit in wet clothes and said he was so cold that he didn’t even have a blanket to cover himself. I asked him if he rang for help and he said he did but no one helped him. I asked a CNA if I could get a cup of ginger ale for my father and he was sitting down on his cell phone and he gave me a dirty look like I was bothering him because he had to put his cell phone away. I would have gotten the soda for my father but everything is locked up with padlocks. The refrigerator and cabinets have padlocks on them so I couldn’t get it for him. Every time I had to ask for assistance I was bothering them and they couldn’t even speak English very well so it made everything more difficult. Someone needs to go into that place and observe what is going on and I believe it would be shut down without hesitation. It’s really inhumane how the elderly people are treated there.

If you care about a loved one, please don’t send them here. This review is primarily for the patient rooms and nurses, not the PT and OT staff. My mother has been in and out of rehabs the last two years because of her stroke and other health complications. There are several other wonderful facilities on the north shore, just not this one. Poor check-in experience— Dirty room, cockroach in the bathroom, no communication about food options, and no guard rails on the hospital beds. When we would voice our concerns we were told someone would clean her room soon. Days would go by and we would end up cleaning it ourselves. It took 6 days for them to install guard rails on her bed. This is a huge liability. The communication between the floor staff and upper management is non-existent. There would be several occasions when I would ask a floor staff to help my mother use the restroom since she is half paralyzed and in a wheelchair. They would bring her wheelchair over to the side of the bed and leave the room. I had to explain to multiple staff members that she requires full assistance with transfers. Lastly, we requested only female staff help with changing, bathing and restroom visits. The floor staff would respond that this was not possible because only male staff were working some days. Completely unacceptable when we can visibly see female staff on the floor. Another concern voiced to upper management that was not addressed to their floor team. We ended up taking my mother out of this rehab a week early and hired private in-home therapists to help with her physical recovery. We are lucky we’re in a position to do this but others don’t always have this option. If you are looking for a rehab consider going to: Spaulding Charlestown Encompass Beverly Brudnick Center for living (not my top choice but better than this place!)

Incredibly clean. Caring wonderful staff who knew my mother by name within 24 hours of admission. A great place to provide care for your loved one when you just can't any long. Very grateful.
