Reviews
The people at Maplewood from physical, occupational , to cognitive help, to kitchen, to aides, to nursing staff, to business office are very knowledgeable, extremely helpful, always accessible, ready to help, and always willing to listen. There was so much kindness and understanding always for me and my husband.
My father stayed there for a while to recover from an operation. The facility was very clean and in great condition. The staff was very friendly, skilled and sincerely cared for my father’s wellbeing, even though he can be pretty grumpy.
Every staff member at Maplewood is exceptional. The personal care for the patient and all caregivers is genuine care , consistent, and timely. The respect shown for everyone goes beyond my expectations and is so much appreciated. I was always kept informed and the team updated us weekly and more if needed.
Because it is now considered out patient surgery, you have some options available when it comes hip replacement rehabilitation. This was my second go around when it comes to total hip replacement surgery. I elected to stay at a rehab facility for a couple of weeks rather than try to do it from home. My wife and I researched a number of facilities in the Madison metro area, settled on six, sorted through those and selected three to visit. We based those final three on the quality of their rooms based on website photos, construction of the website, reputation (both local media, and any word of mouth that might have come our way), and location. Any medical professionals we had been in contact with also were asked generally who they might recommend. We are thrilled we chose Maplewood in Sauk City. The care has been outstanding from the meals served to the rehab and occupational therapy I’ve received. No care facility is going to compete with an all exclusive resort on the gulf side of Florida but the folks that work at Maplewood come closer than you might imagine. Everyone is so pleasant and anxious to serve from housekeeping, to PT and nursing staff. The staff is top notch, knowledgeable and enjoy helping their patients. The nurses do a great job of keeping track of not only the pain killers I am on post op but the multiple prescriptions I'm on during the rest of the day. I have progressed quickly in PT and OT due to the close coordination with my surgeon and the staff at Maplewood. The result of that effort means there is a very good chance I will be going home a week ahead of schedule. There is a real sense from everyone I had contact with that they want to help get you getter and to do it in a pleasant supportive way. Two big things you notice right away when you walk in: Maplewood doesn’t have that nursing homes smell. It is fresh and smells clean. The other thing you notice is how happy everyone is, staff and patients. People are cheerful in how they great each other in the halls. Chuckles are the norm as you walk by open patient rooms with Euchre and its hand slaps on the table. If you do decide to use Maplewood, be certain to ask about Barbara…their very own 3 ton elephant who walked down the hallways.
My wife has been at Maplewood about three years with Alzheimer's. We lived in Norfolk Nebraska for 25 years and Barb was in a facility there about two and a half years. When I decided to move back to Wisconsin it wasn't hard to choose a facility where I wanted Barb to reside. We had a long history with Maplewood, Barb's folks were some of the first residents at Maplewood's assisted living facility. A few months they moved to the nursing facility, Barbs mom resided there for many years and we never had any issues with the home. A few years later my mom moved to Maplewood and resided there for eight years. Again we never had any issues with the care she received and the family has always been very satisfied with staffing and overall attention given to details. It was very easy to make the decision to move Barb to Maplewood once I had decided to move back to Wisconsin. Barb has a wonderful guardian angel as a roommate who watches her back and would report to me any issues I would have to address. Thank you Maplewood for your loving care, attention to details, and overall care provided to your residents. God bless you all as you carry out your daily tasks. Dennis
