In the locked Alzheimer’s unit, it never smelled because trash bags were always tied up and taken out immediately, so it was the best smelling place. The people in the Alzheimer’s unit do a great job. They truly care about their patients.

A friend of mine has her brother here. Apparently his son and the staff are not letting the man's own sister take him out because he feels uncomfortable there and hates being there. The son says his dad is not able to make his own decisions when clearly he is. They won't let him leave. My friend is beside herself trying to get him out of there. Horrible place.

Brought my Elderly sister there for her rehabilitation on knee surgery. I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness and fragrance of the place. From what I understand LaVerna has been purchased by a new firm and the changes being made are up to date. The director of nursing has her staff lovingly attending to the needs of each and every resident. I have learned this from my many visits to my sister. I thank God we found a good place like this.

HORRIBLE place! My fiancé’s mom was here for a few months and we finally moved her. She was often left in her bed which resulted in bed sores. We walked in to find her laying in her own feces. She has gotten multiple utis yet they kept her water and other beverages across the room where she couldn’t reach them to get a drink. The room was often filthy and her daughter would clean it. Food was brought in and left throughout the day. The food served wasn’t always what the menu stated. Nurses and aides were often difficult to locate. The turn around with help was high. No one ever seemed to know what was going on. Her family had to threaten to report them to get something done. There is no actual care at this facility. If you love your loved one please do not send them here. Our loved ones deserve much better. They deserve to be at a place where people seem to genuinely care about them and their needs.

First of all Laverna is very much FOR PROFIT and it shows in the way you are treated. My mother's wedding rings were stolen by a staff member there. The administrator is never at the facility or available when there is a problem. I would recommend highly not going there. We got my mom transferred to Living Community in Saint Joseph and had an excellent experience.
