My husband was admitted to Avamere after emergency stent placement for kidney stones. He had just left the hospital. In Avamere for one month. We could not have been more pleased with his care. Staff was efficient and caring, food was excellent, facility is clean. PT services were very helpful. We both rate Avamere in Sequim five stars!

I was temporarily employed there as a travel nurse, I don't recommend this place unless you are able to advocate for yourself. I witnessed patient neglect daily. Administration, esp Avastaff administrators, keeps the facility understaffed, intentionally, esp overnight shift. They have 2 nurses and 5-6 cnas for all 3 units, 100 patients, putting patient care and staff licenses at risk. Constant c-diff, covid and UTI's, despite the fact that they have an infection control nurse. This is from being understaffed, and they don't care. They blame the nurses for anything that goes wrong, not that they only schedule 2 nurses all night for 3 units. Patients do not get the care they need, left to fester with infected catheters, sores, wet briefs/clothes/bedding/wheelchairs, even lice. When I was done with my contract, I declined their offer to stay and will never work for any Avamere anywhere. They hire 1 travel nurse to abuse, to do the job of 3 nurses and then reprimand you if you focus on patient care instead of redundant charting. They put profit over patient care and safety.

My mom completed her 10 day rehabilitation stay here from shoulder replacement surgery. We couldn't have chosen a better place. The staff, that consisted of nurses, CNA's, PA and even maintenance were extremely pleasant and caring. My mom especially pointed out how kind and helpful they were especially with her high expectations. A special thank you to Emma, Sarah, Peter, Megan, Tom, Christopher and many more kind souls that made her stay very pleasant. She is recovering very well!

My experience with Avamere was my wife was sent there because of blood clots in her legs. She couldn’t walk when leaving the ER. She walked into ER but lost the ability to walk out. Therapy was needed so they sent her there bye after two and a half months still not able to walk. Therapy was almost non existent in the facility no school schedule therapist showed up when ever. I was there to help with her therapy from 7:00 to 6:30. The place is filthy. While there I saw urine and feces dropped on the floor, just wiped up with a rag or towels never mopped up. I did see housekeeping clean the room a few times but nothing consistent. There is no communication at all to inform the patient or family of upcoming visits to the outside doctors visits. They have Covid going on in the facility, we were lucky we got released before it hit the wing my wife was in. Room care was outstanding.the ladies and gentlemen were great to work with. It was just a terrible experience the worst I’ve ever been. Associated. With.

My mother stayed at Avamere for shoulder replacement therapy May 2022. Her experience went well, so this year as she needed therapy to recover from a blood infection, we did not hesitate to have her rehabilitate at Avamere. Unfortunately this time around she also was recovering from a stroke that she encountered in January 2023 and had limited speech. The physical therapy, occupational therapy as well as speech therapy went o.k. The staff (CNA's, Nurses, Assts.) unfortunately did not demonstrate any experience with stroke patients, therefore my mothers needs fell onto deaf ears. I, myself was at her bedside from 9am to 5pm every day since she was admitted and fortunately I was able to adhere to her needs during this time. During the times I was not present, she got very little help, attention, nor did her needs get met, especially when it came to medication. Unfortunately my mother had to be transported to the hospital after 5 days as she was not making any progress and the infection had returned which caused her passing. 1 day after her passing I visited Avamere to retrieve my mother's belongings after being told they were available to pick up. When I arrived, to my dismay, her belongings were thrown into a clear plastic bag like garbage. Some belongings were missing, therefore I had to return the next day to pick those up since they did not know where they were located. This facility showed no compassion, empathy or any training to deal with family loss of one of their patients. Unfortunately on the peninsula there are not many choices for Skilled Nursing Facilities so I sympathize with the community on not having a better place for their loved ones.
