I was there for about months. My insurance would pay for me to stay there for up to 100 days but automatically they started to take it out of my check. I have broken my ankle there I didn't know anything about it cause I didn't feel any pain until I got to the doctor's office and he took X-rays and told me since I just got surgery done 2 weeks before and the stitches where fall out and where they did surgery was getting bigger and they wasn't going to do anything about it until I had asked what I can do to request to get the help I needed. They sent me out eventually but when I got to the hospital they sent me to a different hospital for surgery and that's when I found out that I would lose my foot over that. And the nurses and CNAS wouldn't really do there jobs and answer the calls (especially night shift) and they would play the tv loud or the radio and they would sit at the nursing station and do nothing and one time I had woken up in the middle of the night with chest pain and having trouble breathing and all they could tell me it was anxiety come to found out several months after I got out come to found out that two of my valves are closing up on me and I need surgery to fix it and they don't do it soon then they will be closed I don't want that so they need to pay attention to the residents when they say that something is hurting cause it could be serious and I was told by another facility that if a resident complains about chest pains they have to send them out cause they don't what somethingto them and it's the law that they have to send them out. And they need to do the dressing on the wounds better. And when I did go see the doctor I know that his nurse didn't like they are treating me and my wounds like they didn't care and my doctor asked why my stitches where not taking to out sooner I told him that they told me that they was waiting for him to say that it was ok he told me that he did say it was ok to take them out weeks ago but when I got back I told a nurse about she told me that he didn't but I know that the doctor wouldn't lie about it they just wanted to make sure that I had to stay longer so they can get more money out of me

My stay there was not so nice. They picked me up from hospital took me to my apartment to get my machines and prescriptions. The employees went in my apartment and would not let me in. Said they didn’t have enough oxygen for me. The went in took my machines and went thru my stuff and took things but would not let me see what they took. They took my After care paperwork from hospital and would not let me see it telling me it belonged to them but not to me. Would not let me use my machines because they could not afford the distilled water that goes in them. I sat in wheelchair 24/7. The aids yell at you. The leave you in bathroom with no oxygen and I’m on 5 liters. My roommate kept hitting me with her wheelchair and they wouldn’t do anything about it. I had bedsores from sitting in chair. They didn’t have money for medicine. 1 morning the forget to feed me breakfast. I wouldn’t send my worst enemy there.

I came to Aperion, St Elmo after surgery and was there for close to 3 months. The staff and administration were wonderful. I had extensive PT and OT...which greatly helped with my recovery. My only complaints were in the food quality and the actual building and fixtures. The bed I had was hand cranked and very difficult for staff. The bathrooms were ucky and needed a lot of work. The activities people were wonderful and the transportation to doctor's appointments were superb. The new administrator was on the job and talking to residents every day. He seemed to be just right for the job! The CNAs we're out of this world. 2 showers a week was not enough for me. I hope to never have to go to this sort of facility ever again
