The Long Island State Veterans Home is truly a remarkable place that shows how much our veterans are valued and cared for. The first thing you notice is the beautiful, well-kept grounds—lush lawns, peaceful walkways, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes visitors feel at ease. It’s clear the staff takes pride in keeping the entire property clean and inviting, which creates a comforting environment for residents and their families. I recently attended John Stapleton’s 100th birthday party here, and it was absolutely wonderful. The team went above and beyond to make the celebration special, from the decorations to the thoughtful attention they gave to John and every guest. You could feel the love and respect they have for the veterans in every detail of the event. Most importantly, the care for the residents is exceptional. The nurses, aides, and support staff treat each veteran with dignity, compassion, and genuine kindness. It’s not just about providing medical care—it’s about creating a community where our heroes feel honored and appreciated every day. If you are looking for a place where veterans receive top-notch care in a beautiful, family-friendly setting, the Long Island State Veterans Home is second to none. They provide an environment that celebrates service and shows true gratitude, making it a place I would recommend without hesitation.

My Dad was admitted to LISVH at the end of September. It was a very difficult decision to make. However safety was our main concern. I was out of town for the admission, but I was super impressed how many calls I received from different disciplines. One of my sisters was with him. So far it has been amazing. Everyone is so caring. The nurses so attentive and the nursing assistants very available. Everything is so clean and everyone so friendly - From admissions, the business office and up and down the chain of command. What a wonderful facility to honor the men and women who served our Country. 🇺🇸

My mother was recently transferred to the Long Island State Veterans Home from another facility. I want to commend the entire staff on unit 2D and everyone else who has been involved in my mother‘s care. She has received exceptional care starting with the admission process down to every last detail of her care. Nothing has been overlooked as far as any of her needs or wants. The facility itself is immaculate and odor free. I would highly recommend this facility for your loved ones as I don’t believe they would receive this kind of care/treatment in any other facility. I can leave at night knowing my mother is safe and well cared for having all her needs met, which is so important at this difficult time of transition for both her and her family.

Both my mom and myself are very pleased with my dad’s care. Any issues are attended to immediately. The staff and volunteers are all very nice. My family especially appreciates the social worker, Chris Loglia. He always has time to answer any questions and or concerns.

My husband was admitted to LISVH on August 21, 2025. He has memory issues and I was caring for him at home for three years. It became more and more difficult for me to care for him even with a home health aide. It was the most difficult day of my life after 62 years of marriage to have him live apart from me. I cannot say enough good things about the care Tom is receiving at LISVH. He is in Unit 1B. The staff is “10” star. From the Medical Professionals to the Unit coordinator to the CNA’s my husband is treated with Respect, Kindness, and Caring. They all work as a Team to help Tom and I adjust to our “New Normal”. There are not enough words of Praise I can give this wonderful place.
