ASTORIA NURSING AND REHAB CENTER

My mother has been a patient here for a week. My sister and I have been here at all hours and we find that the caregivers are incredibly kind, caring, and professional. They have a difficult job but they always say they love what they do, and it really shows. They are always checking on the patients and the guests as well. God bless them.

My father had a heart attack last year and he needed to be in a rehab facility. We were very fortunate to have come across this Astoria Facility in Sylmar. My father loved it over there. He was always well taken cared of by very attentive caregivers. The staff worked well with my family when it came to paperwork, etc. The food was exceptional according to my father who is a picker eater nowadays. He fondly remembers his time in Astoria and so do we. The folks who work there made my father feel like a VIP. I saw that they sincerely cared for him. My family and I would recommend this facility to those who may need rehab, hospice, etc. services. A big thank you goes out to the folks who work at Astoria in Sylmar. My father still thinks fondly of all of you even up to this day. You all made a positive difference in his life. Keep up the good work please.

I like the place! Friendly staff especially Filipino nurses. I didn’t like the dresser they provide to my dad. It was falling apart. Lunch not serve on time. The Hispanic therapist asking me questions about my dad therapy instead of asking pt nurse or reviewing pt chart so she knows what she need to do. Therapist look dirty. She needs clean uniform

This place is a joke the rooms look like an old movie. Staff is shabby and unprofessional. They tell you to call for need help they make you wait couple hours. They are supposed to have you meds ready as hospital does and they haven't even order it yet. So your pain schedule is delayed and causes you to in pain and they could care less. This place is for those that are ready to die. If not they will be after couple days in here. I would suggest keeping yourself or love ones away from here. You smell death as you walk in.

This place doesn't deserve a half star. My wife was in here for about a month. Just days before she was released, not by our choose, she got a very bad rash & raw from not being changed. I took a picture to prove my claim. After waiting over 45 minutes after pushing her nurse's button, I walked out the door to make sure the light was on over the door. I verified the light was on, when I looked down the hall, her care giver was sitting in a chair talking to another employee. Naturally I raised a fuss. That's when I stayed in the room & took the picture of her raw, red & dirty bottom. She didn't get sufficient phsyical therapy either. Soon after that she was discharged. I had to have medical transport bring her home to our mobile home. She wasn't well enough to walk up the steps. This is only one instance of the last & lousy care given by this facility. There should be more quality control over these facilities to get better care for our loved ones.
