Father-in-law came for rehab, but at his age, rehab was not successful so he remained as a skilled nursing patient. The staff treated him with kindness, patience and professionalism. It was reassuring that he was surrounded by people who treated him with dignity, respect and warmth - especially in his final days.

I would rate this place with a negative if I could. The leadership staff here is a joke. My mom was taking a turn, and when the CNA told the administrator, the CNA was told to stay in her lane because she was not a nurse. My mom's roommate was the one who ended up calling me to alert me of her condition and I went to her and asked for an ambulance to be called. If you have to find a place for a loved one, keep on looking. If you are not available to check on your person on a daily, find another place. I was constantly in there advocating for my mom, and she still had challenges getting the staff on board. They changed her medicine one time because it made her poop a lot, so they cut the frequency. I had to go in there and make a scene and get it fixed. Nobody in leadership will contact you or communicate with you except Lindsey. Lindsey is the best of the worst. My mom passed in the hospital after 10 days, and I have still not heard anything from the staff as of now, 5 days later. The business office called me 2 days into her hospital stay and asked for her payment for the month. No concern or inquiry about my mom's condition. So sad. I have so many regrets. Learn from my mistake and do not have these regrets or put your loved one through this place. You will regret it. The state should close this place down. That is my next phone call, but I wanted the public to know and hopefully save a family from this experience while I get the state involved. Don't move anyone here. Bad things will happen.

I read the reviews and questioned the angry responses. I choose to inspect this facility and make an informed decision. The facility is clean, staff were pleasant, and the therapy members answered all my questions. I feel people post angry reviews instead of asking for accommodations. True no one will take care of your loved one the way you can; however, they are there because they need help that you can't provide. Try thanking a nurse instead of yelling at them. I'm going to give this facility my business and not listen to the haters.

My father in law needed to go into a rehab facility. His daughters chose this facility. I told them not to send him here because it was a horrible place that neglected my uncle for years. They didn't listen and he ended up here anyway. When he went in, his cognitive abilities were normal and he was able to have a normal conversation. He was able to stand up on his own, not easily but he could do it. We went to visit every couple days. Things seemed fine at first. Then they started missing his meds. Left him outside asleep for 2 hours on a 100⁰ day (he woke up and got himself back inside). Passed out later due to heat exhaustion and did not have him seen by a doctor. Nurses started slipping him laxatives without informing him (we witnessed this first hand). We noticed him starting to become fatigued. I informed a nurse about my concerns in the obvious changes. The last time we went to visit, it was about 4pm. He was passed out with a tray of food in front of him and only one bite taken. We almost left and then I realized it was too early for dinner to be served and that he had passed out right after getting lunch and no one had checked on him at all since. I went back in and I couldn't wake him up. I went and got staff. Staff barely woke him and took his food. He was shaking all over and making no sense. The nurse came in and took his vitals and tried to tell me he was fine. I insisted he needed to go to the hospital. The nurse said they could order labs and continued to try and tell me he was fine. I got upset and had to explain to the nurse that a sharp cognitive decline and level of fatigue was an emergency situation. The nurse said "Let me go talk to my manager." He came back and asked my father in law some basic questions, which he could not answer... the nurse left again and came back and said they were calling for an ambulance. I thought "Finally" and assumed the staff was trying to do the right thing. Paramedics showed up, found he was running a fever and had low blood oxygen... they were also concerned about his cognitive function. The nurse and the manager (im assuming) told the paramedics that this was his cognitive normal. Basically that delusions, minor hallucinations and confusion was his normal... which was a complete lie. Then staff told paramedics that his blood oxygen level was always low like that. The paramedics looked at the nurse and said "Thats not normal for a person that doesn't have COPD or lung disease!" The paramedics get him to the hospital where it was discovered that staff allowed his incisions to become infected, and my father in law even told the staff he was getting red blotches around the incisions... they did nothing and didn't care. Now he has to have a 3rd surgery to clean out all of the infection. Please do not ever send your family or loved ones to this facility. They will neglect and ignore them. They will not clean and monitor incisions and wounds like they are supposed to... this facility is dangerous.

Sierra and Garret are the absolute best therapists I have ever had. And there have been many. They are kind, , care about YOUR progress, work you to the max. But understand your limits. There are numerous faults here at Avamere, but the team of. Garret and Sierra make this experience a miracle for me.
