About

Grand Traverse Medical Care, the founding component and flagship of Grand Traverse Pavilions, has a tradition of excellence that spans more than four decades. Opened in July of 1959, Grand Traverse Medical Care was built as the replacement for the 22 bed Boardman Valley Hospital. In June of 1998 it became the primary component of Grand Traverse Pavilions. Home to more than 300 residents and 100 daily program participants, Grand Traverse Pavilions emulates 19th century buildings on-site, intricately balancing state-of-the-art accommodations and modern amenities with ambient, pastoral surroundings. Among these offerings are adult day services, overnight respite, assisted living cottages, skilled long-term care, rehabilitation, dementia services, and health and fitness programs. Each is designed to nurture creativity, independence, and understanding among all constituents

My Dad was in there for a month, and we were so grateful for the care he received. They got him up and back on his feet, and feeling like his 98 year old self again. They discovered what was happening with him that was making his life so uncomfortable. We are so grateful for them all. Great attention, clean room and dining areas, nurses and everyone in there were so nice and helpful. The physical therapists that worked with him were amazing! Laura, his case worker, was outstanding. She helped us so much while Dad was in there, and also upon his release. He's doing very well now in assisted living because of his care at The Pavillions. The family of Tom B. Thanks you.

My dad spent 3 weeks in the rehab ward of the Pavilions. I couldn’t have asked for better care for my father. The staff was considerate, helpful, used all safety precautions, treated my dad with dignity and the physical therapists were fantastic! They got my dad to do so much for himself. My dad was on a lot of medications that made him have no appetite, but when he wasn’t, he enjoyed the food. His room was clean, bathroom was clean he was even provided a mechanical chair to sleep in, just like at home. Over all, we couldn’t have asked for more.

The Library Lady was there today. Mom got 3 books. A woman was in to play the accordion for the residents.

The CNA’s that work there are awesome. Still a bit understaffed. The food there is ATROCIOUS!!!. It should be a crime what they serve the elderly residents. Not much variety and chicken, chicken, chicken………….

The Pavilions is one of the worst places I have ever been too and I have been at several. Some of the staff is helpful and kind but I was recently moved from the rehab floor and moved to long term on the second floor. I sat in my wheelchair with my legs hurting so bad I couldn’t stand it and my son-in-law and daughter had to keep hunting someone down. I turned my call button on 3 times before they even came other than to finally give me water. After putting me on a machine to get to my chair they let my foot slide and kept jamming it with the wheels on machine they use to move me because I’m not ambulatory. I know for the past two days the meals have came really late and I’m talking one evening it was 2 hrs late. The food is horrible most of the time. And it’s always cold and it feels like the air conditioning is on during the night hours. I believe they turn the heat down after the office staff leaves for the night so the residents have to freeze. Some of the CNA’s are snippy and talk about their personal lives and how they hate their jobs and you can tell they do because they’re cranky with us patients! If I were you I wouldn’t send your loved ones to this place ever! I can hear a lady right now that has been calling and screaming for someone to come and help Her now for over half an hour! This place is the absolute worst and I cannot wait to get out of here and I’m actually considering leaving to a different facility! I’ve been at the Kalkaska long term before and the Maples in Frankfort and they were very good. Pick something different than The Pavilions for sure!!!
