I have to say, when you look at the outside of the facility you see an abundance of opportunities in maintenance. My father was there for 3 months and during those three months he got stronger, was treated well by the staff and residents. He actually felt important why he was there. They employ a large staff that does their jobs well and treats the residents with respect. If my father wouldn't of burnt his bridges he would still be there.

What really stood out at Big Bend Woods wasn’t just the care—it was the way the staff celebrated small victories. Whether it was a resident completing a walking goal or engaging in a new activity, the whole team uplifted them. It’s a place filled with encouragement.

I went in there to deliver some medicine the place reeks of piss. It was disgusting and made me want to puke.. And no , all nursing homes do not smell like pee. Just badly managed ones with poor housekeeping.. I wouldn't send my loved ones here. 🤷‍♀️ hire better housekeeping or whatever..

Warning, sorry for the long post. This is the facility where my husband was taken. It is called Big Bend Woods, located at 110 Highland Ave. in Fenton, Missouri. I took these pictures around my husband's bed. The rest of the facility appears to be in poor condition as well. I was informed over the phone that my husband had arrived at the facility. They also stated that they did not have a walker available that day, but they would obtain one the following day. In the meantime, they placed a wheelchair in his room for him to use as a temporary solution. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this arrangement. However, they assured me that they would procure a walker the next day. I visited the facility to deliver additional clothing for my husband and his sleep apnea machine. Upon arrival, I found him looking miserable, with no staff members present. It took approximately an hour to locate someone to address my concerns. The wheelchair provided for my husband's use was his roommate's, which was soiled with feces. When a staff member finally arrived, she identified herself as the nurse on duty. I brought the unacceptable condition of the wheelchair to her attention. She responded that it belonged to his roommate, which I acknowledged, but emphasized that my husband had been instructed to use it to access the restroom if needed. I also informed her that my husband requires assistance with using the restroom. This facility appears to be subpar. The odor is unpleasant, and the overall condition suggests a lack of maintenance over an extended period. The furniture appears to be outdated and in disrepair. I strongly advise against placing family members in this facility. Even the exterior landscaping is overgrown, with peeling paint visible everywhere. The once-beautiful outdoor garden, which featured a water fountain 25 years ago, is now neglected. The fountain is empty, and the surrounding area is in disarray, with overgrown bushes and vines. Despite its neglected appearance, the facility is fully occupied. This facility should not even have a rating. This facility should not be open for business. I did remove my husband . He is at home. Also in the process of trying to get my husband to my vehicle instead of being mortified how I felt about this place, they just added coles to the already bad situation. I asked them if they could find a clean wheelchair to wheel him out to my car. They said no we’re sorry you’re on your own. I said OK well, if you fall in your facility, I will sue you. They absolutely did not care if he made it to my car or not. They are very unprofessional. They should be shut down.
