My sister and I found the ideal independent living and continuing care community here at Walnut Hills. We moved in early May 2024 after selling our home of 21 years in North Canton, Ohio. It was time for us to move and let a family raise their children in our former home. If you dream of a community that is peaceful (no loud music coming from passing cars, for example), that has outstandingly beautiful views of rolling hills, farm and woods while having access to suburban amenities, this is the place! We live in a two-bedroom, two bathroom side-by-side duplex. It is an excellent floor plan, easy to keep clean and all one floor. This faith-based community is filled with nice, approachable people. There are numerous churches to choose from, groceries with some of the freshest best tasting meats, delicious restaurants, shopping, live theatre entertainment, and more. Although Walnut Hills is in Holmes County, Amish country, we have internet here! You can choose to participate as much as you would like with Walnut Hills activities and/or other local communities. We are so happy to be here and not in an independent living apartment! We are thankful for the sense of security, the peacefulness and the amenities. We can spend our remaining years pursuing our hobbies/dreams rather than constantly maintaining a house and yard. We are looking forward to many years living at Walnut Hills, in Walnut Creek, Ohio!

My husband and I moved into the Walnut Hills Independent Living Community from Charleston, WV three years ago after about 40 years in the ministry. We have found this place to be a wonderful faith-based community with delightful amenities, a beautiful campus, lots of friendly neighbors, and amazingly friendly services for all our needs. One year later we moved my mother from a facility in Pittsburgh into our Assisted Living community here and she spent her last two years here with us, incredibly happy and grateful for all they did for her. She loved the great meals, the compassionate care, and the meticulous cleanliness of the place. She left us for heaven recently at 101 years of age and we are so thankful that her last two years were spent at Walnut Hills. After three years here we are still asked by people, "Do you like it here?" We respond, "No....We LOVE it, LOVE it, LOVE it here!!!" Some ask, "Are you happy there?" We say, "No....We are ECSTATIC here!!" And we are in no way exaggerating when we say so!

My grandma is there. Hospice will be removing her. Charging her 13k a month to be there all the while hospice supplies her needs, yet the staff can’t locate these supplies and turn around and charge her for it. Family found her face down on the floor wrapped up in cords and diaper off, their response was “she looked comfortable and we didn’t want to bother her” she hasn’t been receiving her medication… opioids found on the floor in her room.. she needs care all the time she cannot do anything for herself. Recently hallucinating. Staff rolling their eyes when my family questions her care. ABUSE and FRAUD. Do better!!

My father was only at Walnut Hills for a couple of months but they are amazing. He was treated with love, respect and kindness from every person there. They truly care about there residents and it is evident every day. You will always hold a special place in our hearts and may GOD bless you for what you do!! If you ever find yourself in the position of having to put a loved one in a nursing home, Walnut Hills goes so far beyond any expectations. They were such a blessing for my father and our family.

Walnut Hills Retirement Community is located amidst the beauty of Ohio’s Amish country. We enjoy the strong sense of community we have experienced since coming to live here in retirement three years ago. We greatly appreciate our neighbors and the dedicated, hard-working and excellent staff who make this community a special place to live.
