The good reviews are a joke. This place is horrible. The building is filthy and out dated. You walk in and NO one is around to direct you to where you need to go. The elevator is frequently broken down. Due to it being old and clearly unsafe. Which alone makes me worried for my loved one, since they are unable to go up and down steps. It is currently summer time, and the building is HOT. When you walk in, it's nice and cool. But up in the patients room, there is no AC, no moving air, nothing. They have fans in the common room but patients have no cool.air where they sleep. Speaking of the "common spaces". They are dirty, crowded, and the staff do not keep eyes on the residents. On my loved ones floor there is a man who blasts Spanish radio the whole day. Making it hard to talk to your loved one and he is NOT nice if you ask him to lower it a little. The rooms are inhumane. They sleep 4 people in a room suitable for 2 beds. The rooms have no air flow. One bathroom. The residence get a bed, bed tray, small dresser and a night stand. People with all different needs, in one room with no watchful eyes. The smell and heat alone would make you sick. Patients get served 3 meals a day. I have seen them be offered snacks. I had to bring food and drinks in for my loved one so they had them as needed. The food is not great at all. For dinner today they got a "sandwhich" which was two slices are turkey lunch meat and two slices of cheese on a HOT DOG bun. It came with a drink and 4 small cut pieces of watermelon and a half cup of wet coleslaw. That's not even enough for a child, let alone grown adult. The staff are 50/50. Some are good. Others could care less about anything that doesn't involve their phone. The less aware patients are left out in the halls to sit. It's so sad. Especially for those calling this place their final home. Avoid this place for your loved one. This is a real review, made by someone who visits almost daily and genuinely cares about the poor souls in this place. Don't make your loved one go here. They will not be treated like a human with needs. Note: the photos are WAY outdated and do not show the place for what it is.

As I entered door I was told to sign in. On the machine it was easy and simple. When I put my name on it showed me who I visited last. Asked the person at the desk for the room number with a smile she looked it up for me and directed me to the right room. On leaving the person I visited needed help We told someone at the floor front desk and she responded immediately. Very nice visit.

I had called Ms Kirby in hopes of resolving some issues with my friend who resides at West Reading. When I got to her office we were able to consult with Ms Castro, the Business Office Manager, who knew exactly how to help and proceeded to find more information online than I had expected. She not only answered questions, but made sure money held by the state could be properly returned to my friend. Very much appreciated the help and knowledge at work there!
